  1. We do have speedtests and downloads available at http://www.hawkhost.com/network for all of our 6 locations if you wanted to test that. Based on what you've said my suggestion would be to use a location on the West coast, as latency for users throughout North America will be fine and your visitors from Japan/Asia and Australia/NZ will get better speeds than somewhere like Washington DC. The folks from UK would have the 'slowest' browsing experience but I really don't believe that extra 100ms of latency or so will cause a major issue. For upgrading it can be done automatically right through your client area and you'd just pay the difference between plans.
  2. All of our plans support the use of sftp and SSL for mail. sftp you just need to make sure shell access is enabled on your account, and if it isn't already (it should be) contact our support team for access. For email you need to use the servers hostname as the incoming/outgoing server as the certificate is signed to that hostname. The server you're on can be found in cPanel but again if you need help with those settings let our support team know.
  3. Reseller plans are more expensive because you get more disk space and bandwidth, and can also create multiple cPanel accounts. Our resellers plans were redone about a year ago to include more disk space and bandwidth, so throughout the year we did the same to our shared and VPS plans.

We'd need to know the exact issue(s) you ran into along with the steps to replicate it in order to say for certain why the manual install did not work. If you'd like I would suggest giving the manual install a try on an addon domain and if it doesn't work contact our support team so we can look. You mentioned above you had the too many connections from this IP error, if that happens you can login to cPanel and clear the FTP sessions (you're limited to 8 at a time). More info on that here: https://support.hawkhost.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=148

    Urgent

Hello, I believe this issue has been resolved for you but if you're still having a problem please either PM me or let us know the ticket ID for the problem you're waiting on
  6. That screen shot shows an IIS error for a site you're connecting to on localhost, at the physical path on your local computer. That's nothing to do with our servers / systems so I'm not sure why you're getting the error. If you're looking to connect to cPanel for your account just check your new account information email for the URL to use
  7. This is also disabled on our reseller plans.
  8. Hello, We have system level software we can use to scan your account and provide you the results. Please contact our support team at https://support.hawkhost.com (if you haven't already) and ask they scan your account. Alternatively you could download a copy of your account via FTP to your local computer, and scan the folder you download it to with a local Antivirus program.
  9. The VPS are provisioned as a default install of whatever OS you choose (CentOS is most popular) so there are not any optimizations done to the individual VPS, that'd be up to you. Plus, this lets you optimize the VPS specific to your environment and needs. The nodes themselves are monitored constantly and should an issue occur we're notified right away. Just like our shared services we make sure the servers are performing optimally at all times, so no worries there
  10. It's not possible for shared or reseller users to change the SSH port, it's a server wide setting and will be port 22 for all accounts. The only situation you'd be able to change the port is if you were on a VPS.
  11. No problem! One thing to point out is while we do check our forums, we check our helpdesk much more frequently so any other questions you have in the future might be best suited for https://support.hawkhost.com
  12. Domain transfers can be handled right through our site at https://my.hawkhost.com/domainchecker.php?search=bulktransfer -- the cost to make us the registrar is $9.95 per domain per year and that includes privacy protection. As for your cart we should be able to get that going when we migrate all your files (if you have us end up doing it). As far as getting the cart going if you run into issues you can contact our support team we should be able to sort out exactly what is wrong and how to fix it.
  13. If you'd like, our support team can assist in migrating the files over for you. Steps on getting that setup can be found here: https://support.hawkhost.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=154 Our control panel, cPanel, has a basic file manager which also includes a text editor so if you're required to open, edit or modify existing files in your account you can use that very easily to get it done. It's all web based with a graphic interface (nothing done via command line) so that sounds like it'll do the trick for you.
  14. We only offer VPS services in Dallas, TX and Washington DC at this time. If you purchase cPanel with the VPS and the account(s) you're moving to the VPS are cPanel based we can assist in the migration once the VPS is setup.
  15. All of our servers are listed at http://www.hawkhost.com/network/serverlist -- on that page just look for anything under the 'Virtual Private Server' category. That said all of them are minimum 2 x Intel E5520s with 24GB memory and 4x300GB SAS drives in RAID10 (same specs are shared hosting). A couple of the nodes are E5620 CPUs though. We run everything on OpenVZ

If you purchase another account through our site it will have it's own cPanel login

    cPanel

If you're signing up for a second shared hosting service, you can use any of our available coupons since it's a new service. On step 5 of the order form you can login as an existing client and add the new service to your account that way
  18. I'll be honest in that I've not been an admin on a vBulletin forum in some time, so I can't speak to where they're at. I know when we made the switch a few years ago IPB was, in our opinion, leagues ahead in terms of features and usability (If memory serves, vBulletin costs were about to skyrocket too). Perhaps vBulletin has similar functionality now but the theme creator of IPB is efficient and robust. You can modify just about anything with a visual editor they provide which is how we made our forum skin. They also have a spam plugin which links to a database of reported/known spammers which helps reduce the volume. As long as you stay on top of version upgrades (and aren't negligent with maintenance) it's a secure product. For everything we need and do IPB simply works and we hardly scratch the surface of what the forum is capable of. If you have any other specific questions I can do my best to answer those
  19. Based on those stats you should be well under the 25 concurrent connection limit so I don't see that being an issue for you. Litespeed will be able to run all of that software without an issue. We do not support FXP so that wouldn't be an option however we do offer migration assistance so our support team would be able to help bring your files over.
  20. Quoting you in English since a majority of our users do not speak Spanish (or anyone can just use http://translate.google.com) -- If you need someone to install and configure WHMCS you can also look at somewhere like http://www.webhostingtalk.com. A number of users there are familiar with WHMCS and should be able to offer installation assistance. Keep in mind, you can use Softaculous through cPanel to install WHMCS making that part a bit easier. WHMCS also has a lot of documentation available at http://docs.whmcs.com/Documentation_Home to get started.
  21. Once you hit the account limit you'd just be unable to create any additional cPanel accounts. If you end up needing more than 50 you'd need to upgrade to our silver plan, which can be done through your client area. Instructions for upgrading can also be found at https://support.hawkhost.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=127 if you need them
  22. Welcome to the forums! -- The answer to your question depends on a few factors, namely your payment method: If you paid with a credit card, and saved your card details on file, then our system will automatically bill you on the invoice due date each month. If you paid with a credit card but did not save your card details on file, then you will be required to login and pay manually. If you paid with Paypal and setup a subscription (you can check if you have an active one with us in your recurring payments dashboard from your Paypal account), then each month that'll pay the invoice. If not, you'd need to login to your client area and pay each invoice manually. Our system generates invoices 7 days prior to the due date, and we provide a 7 day grace period after, giving you a total of 14 days to make payment on the invoice before your service is suspended. If I didn't answer your question or you need some more details, either reply here or submit a ticket with our billing department at https://support.hawkhost.com -- Also worth noting while we do monitor these forums and do our best to reply in a timely fashion, a ticket will almost always be replied to sooner. Another advantage is a ticket lets us pull up account details specific to you, so we can give you less of a generic answer to these questions
  23. Please submit a support ticket at https://support.hawkhost.com requesting a move to our Amsterdam location. We can get you all setup through there
  24. Whenever you transfer a domain name to us it adds on years worth of registration onto that domain, so in this case you'd then be renewed through 2013
  25. If you do earn over $100 in affiliate commissions all payouts are done via Paypal.
