  1. We actually use Softlayer as our hosting provider, so the locations we offer are limited to what they have available. They do happen to have PoPs in both Hong Kong and Tokyo but unfortunately no datacenters. We do currently have shared hosting available in San Jose, more details about that can be found at http://www.hawkhost.com/Network/sanjose
  2. Absolutely fair point. We've been doing this since 2004 for what it's worth (http://www.hawkhost.com/About/past) -- definitely not as long as some of the 'big boys' (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Network Solutions etc.) but we're past the infancy/startup phase. We do indeed, whois protection is included with all domains that support it at no additional cost. You can enable/disable it at any time in your account.
  3. I have to take the opportunity to plug our services and point you to https://my.hawkhost....mainchecker.php -- that said, a lot of people want to keep their hosting and registrar separate, which is entirely understandable. Personally I've used Network Solutions and NetEarthOne in the past and have nothing negative to say about either company. Shame to hear about the poor GoDaddy experience
  4. Welcome to the forums -- If you were going to be using SSL on your account with us you would require a dedicated IP. The cost of this is $3/mo and it would be billed on the same term as your hosting plan. Once you've signed up you'll want to submit a ticket with our sales department at https://support.hawkhost.com -- in that ticket, you'll want to attach or copy/paste your actual SSL cert for verification. Once confirmed we'll get an IP assigned to your account and you'll be able to complete the installation (or our helpdesk can do it for you).
  5. When you have a credit on your account our system will automatically use those funds to pay the invoice on the due date. Keeping in mind though our invoices are generated 7 days prior to the due date, what possibly happened here is you saw the invoice generated, saw it wasn't paid via credit and proceeded to pay via credit card. During your next renewal if you wish to pay via credit again I'd suggest waiting until the actual due date. We also provide a 7 day grace period after the due date before suspension, so if for some reason the invoice isn't paid by your credit you still won't risk your service or uptime.
  6. SteKs is correct, you can follow us at https://twitter.com/#!/hawkhost
  7. Absolutely possible! You can sign up right through our site at http://www.hawkhost.com/shared like you did the first time, and then on step 5 of the order form you can login as an existing client to have the new service added to your existing client area account. We do not provide specific discounts for your additional plans but as NickL pointed out, since it's a new order you're eligible for any promotions listed on our site at http://www.hawkhost.com/specials
  8. We recently enabled login sharing between our client area and helpdesk accounts which may explain the password inconsistencies you're getting. Could you please try logging in using your client area credentials? If that doesn't work I'd ask you to please submit a ticket at https://support.hawkhost.com so we can investigate this with your private account details handy (don't want that posted in a public forum obviously). Thank you!
  9. The FSCK has completed and the server is back online at this time.
  10. FSCK on /home has completed, we're running it on /var and /usr now.
  11. We're at 65% complete currently.
  12. The FSCK is at 25% complete.
  13. Due to filesystem inconsistencies we've been forced to bring Mars down and run a FSCK. We'll be posting updates as this progresses in this thread.
  14. Could you please PM me your ticket ID? I'll make sure your ticket is replied to immediately if it hasn't been already.
  15. Just an update here folks things are going really well and we're making better than expected progress. Updates to come shortly
  16. This maintenance is underway. We will update this thread as we make progress.
  17. I believe you contacted our sales team and we replied there with some info, but all details about our affiliate plan can be found at http://www.hawkhost.com/affiliate
  18. Very glad to hear that! -- For anyone reading this in the future the details for connecting can be found in cPanel under your 'Email Accounts' section, or in your "New Account Information" email. You can also contact our helpdesk team at any time and they'd be able to help you out
  19. I'm afraid this would not be allowed on our shared services
  20. Starting at 10PM EST on Sunday May 13th we will be performing an upgrade on our helpdesk (https://support.hawkhost.com) to the latest version of our support software. During this maintenance window our helpdesk and ticket system may be unavailable. Date: 05/13/2012 Start time: 10:00PM EST End time: 6:00AM EST Duration: 8 hours Services affected: Support helpdesk and email tickets Throughout the duration of this maintenance this thread will be used for status updates on our progress. Any emergency support issues can be addressed by calling 800-859-8803
  21. The 'twitter' coupon is only valid on shared hosting services, not on our VPS or reseller services
  22. As of right now we don't have any available VPS promotions but we can work something out for you, please PM me or submit a ticket to our sales team at https://support.hawkhost.com and reference this post.
  23. With our system if you have only a domain registration we unfortunately do not provide a redirect/DNS service for the domain. You would need to set the nameservers to ours (if you have an account with us, then park the domain on your account and setup a redirect there) or point them to a third party DNS provider which lets you modify your A records. Sorry we don't have this available for you
  24. You should be able to reach someone on chat between 10AM-6PM EST Monday through Friday -- there are periods throughout the day where we'll be unavailable (15-20 minutes at a time) though. That said you can always email our sales team or submit a ticket directly at https://support.hawkhost.com and you'll hear back within a half hour (if not sooner).
  25. 1) This would be your accounts primary domain name or the IP your site is hosted on. If you're unsure of this go to http://intodns.com and input your domain and look for your A record 2) cPanel username 3) cPanel password 4) Any special instructions / specific requirements related to your account. Generally speaking since you're using cPanel you shouldn't need to fill that field out Hope that helps!
