It should now be back online. We're still trying to make sense of why it did what it did. Thankfully next week we'll be starting migration of this machine to new hardware. So this should not be a lingering issue.

The IPMI KVM console for the server is not functioning for us and we're not sure as of yet why the machine has not booted back up. We're having a technician on site look into it since we cannot connect to it remotely now.

As of 10:02 PM EDT we're rebooting the Saturn server to resolve an issue. It should be back up and running within 10 minutes. We're sorry about any inconvenience this may cause.

We will be removing Zend Framework from the PHP default include path on Tuesday October 6th. It was a great at the time to have for developers not wishing to upload the framework. Unfortunately as more applications make use of it there are problems that are starting to come up. One such popular example is Magento does not function properly without modifications to the .htaccess file. This does not mean you cannot use Zend Framework on our hosting. You can still do this it's just you need to upload it to your account. This is probably better anyways as each version brings changes. So anytime we were upgrading it could have potentially broke your application anyways. If you have any questions or concerns about this please contact support.

We make no restriction on content and have no interest in attempting it again. It's just not something we can reasonably do. We do not advertise adult hosting in anyway but we cannot stop people from throwing up an add-on domain with adult content. If it's affecting you viewing your site we could work something out but if not nothing to really worry about. With the limited set of IP's available having more than one site on an IP is a given. So I haven't seen systems saying you cannot view a site because there is another site they don't like on an IP. It's typically more along the lines of I don't like this domain you cannot view it.

This window has been canceled due to the Saturn server being migrated to new hardware starting on the Friday. Hardware Migration [10/09/2009] - [10/13/2009]
-
We will be migrating the accounts on the Saturn server starting on Friday October 9th and this will last until Tuesday October 13th. The reason for this upgrade is our continued commitment to having exceptional quality of service. The Saturn server is showing it's age in specification so we feel everyone would benefit from a much needed upgrade. For the migration process we will be moving accounts in sections based on IP address. We anticipate no more than 5 minutes of down time per account in order to make the switch. We migrate the account data then re-route the IP address to the new server. Thus there is no down time associated with the upgrade. The time frame given we estimate will not be nearly this long. In the past we have migrated to other hardware without any down time in less than three days. So our 4 days just gives us plenty of time to do it right and make sure there is no interruption in service. The specifications of the server will be similar to that of the Skyline server that received it's upgrade last month. Old Saturn: Xeon 5430 4GB RAM 4x250GB SATA II Raid-10 New Saturn: Dual Xeon 54xx 12GB RAM 4x300GB SAS Raid-10 You'll notice three times as much memory and SAS drives which are significantly faster than the SATA counterparts. The CPU's is still something that is up in the air at this point. It's subject to availability but it'll be at least Dual 5430 so the new machine will have twice as many CPU cores. If you have any concerns about this migration please do not hesitate to contact us. Start Date: 10/09/2009 End Date: 10/13/2009 Estimated Down Time: less than 5 minutes Duration: 5 days

You typically just go through the same process you did when you originally setup the SSL certificate.

vbulletin costs money but with a paid product you do have support. It also in my opinion is more refined than phpBB. It has a lot more features and I think has better performance options as well. You also have the whole vbulletin brand itself people take a forum powered by vbulletin more serious than one by phpBB. At least with the vbulletin one someone paid for it so maybe the forum is a little more serious than just some random forum on the internet.

Just a small note I turned off visitor messaging as I found spam via them. I guess some users register then send themselves a message with links in them. That way they're not getting banned for spam like when they actually make posts. Nothing major I hope no one has been using it as I don't check it that's for sure! Another forum improvement. Maybe next we'll actually have a skin matching our site

It seems like a good idea but from our perspective it could result in people not placing orders. I think that being on the order form would care a lot of people away. We're better off just dealing with the odd decline by a bank for it being international and us explaining to the user the issue. As far as cold where we're located it's no colder than New York or anywhere in the north east. It's a lot colder way up north but you could say the United States is really cold based on the fact it's really cold in Alaska

It's not possible it requires windows for one (we run Linux) and cPanel is also not listed as one of the supported control panels.

The versions fantastico all falls on the creators of fantastico netenberg. http://www.netenberg.com/fantastico.php Best option is to just install it yourself by uploading the files and setting up the database.

I'm just curious what video games everyone is playing right now. For me right now I'm working my way through Batman Arkham Asylum (awesome game) and picked up Need For Speed Shift. Both are for my 360 although I do have a ps3 as well. As far as PC games I play a game of Quake Live once in a while but that's about it. So how about anyone else?

Self Promotion: http://forums.hawkhost.com/forumdisplay.php?f=42 Customer Reviews: http://forums.hawkhost.com/forumdisplay.php?f=41 I had a sticky note to get the forum cleaned up a bit and add new sections. I finally got around to doing it. You'll also notice the url is now http://forums.hawkhost.com/ and the old http://hawkhost.com/forums redirects to it.
