This might more apply to resellers but would anyone like to see Softaculous or Installatron on our servers? I'm asking because I realize Fantastico is well not very great these days. Updates take weeks to come out even for security updates and the script library is pretty much a joke. So would anyone like to see either of those as an alternative or even a replacement to Fantastico?

I don't think there is a bb code for doing that

So who here is playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2? I ended up buying it for my Xbox 360 as it sounded like the PC version was basically the Console version which in other words means it wasn't going to be very good on PC. I've already beat the single player which was pretty sick although as always it feels short but maybe that's because it was just so awesome? Based on the ending already convinced there will probably be either a third one or even an expansion on this one then a third one. So anyone else who has it what are your thoughts on it thus far? I'm pretty impressed by it but I haven't really got into the multiplayer as of yet. I just went on a serious gaming marathon to beat the single player in less than a day.

There is a report button on the PM's which will send us the contents as well as the user who did it.
-
Just report the pm. I'll see what I can do about it. Damn if you do damned if you don't situation as new users pm staff once in a while and having some sort of system where they cannot will cause it's own problems.

This has been completed.

I did not get one but we had a report and the user who did it was banned.
-
70% complete should be completed by early Sunday at the latest.

It will not run on our servers or even on a VPS as it requires windows:

That has started.

Unfortunately with our shared hosting packages you cannot assign different IP's to different domains. This is a limitation of cPanel and we do not go writing configuration files ourselves to change that. If you need each domain to have a different IP you're best to have a reseller account then purchase the extra IP's ($2/month each).

You can change the password of their account through WHM. There is a password modification option which lets you select an account and change their password.

All those video games with big head mode someone actually made a real life big head mode! http://testroete.com/index.php?location=head Goldeneye 64 style right there.
-
Nothing would change besides more space, bandwidth and cpanels. There would be no down time or anything like that or migration of accounts.

We can already identify attacks. It's stopping certain types of attacks that are difficult. Typical attacks most providers see are http get floods which are very easy to block. The tough ones to block are syn floods which you can try to mitigate but the only real way is to use a cisco guard or some other mitigation device. Unfortunately the guard will not turn on if it's only a few hundred mbits. But a few hundred mbit syn flood will create millions of partial connections. So we identify the attack and ask for protection and hope it stops it.

We will be taking the Mercury server off line for 10 minutes tonight in order to login to the bios and correct a setting. Currently the server is not properly scaling it's CPU's meaning the server is not running at nearly full speed. This fortunately has not been causing an issues for the server but we'd like to correct it now. The maintenance window is from 11:00pm CST until 12:00am CST tonight. We do not expect it to take more than 10 minutes to correct the bios setting and have the server back up and running. We're sorry about any inconvenience this may cause. Date: 11/03/2009 Start time (CST): 11:00pm End time (CST): 12:00am Duration: 1 hour Estimated Down Time: 10 minutes

Forgot to update this it was down for about 20 minutes to replace the bad stick of memory. We'll finish the doing the migration tomorrow.
-
We were about 60% completed when we had to stop due to finding something odd with the new server. The machine passed our burn in tests but the logs suggest there is a bad stick of memory. Rather than moving everyone back then fixing the memory we're just going to take the 20-30 minutes and replace the bad stick. The reason being the time it takes to move everyone back and having to do it when memory is bad is not a good idea. We'll be doing this ASAP and not all users are affected either. Unfortunately no way around this the memory is throwing an increasing number of errors.

We will be migrating the Jedi node to new hardware starting on November 1st and it will last up until November 5th although we estimate it'll take not even 24 hours to migrate the entire node to new hardware. There will be no down time during this migration we will move VPS's using the migration tools in OpenVZ to minimize the impact of the move as much as possible. We're sorry about the short notice regarding this we have been monitoring the health of this node and we feel it should be upgraded as soon as possible to restore it to it's optimal performance it once had. Specification break down: Old Jedi Dual Xeon 5430 12GB RAM 4x300GB SATA Raptor 10K RPM Raid-10 New Jedi Dual Xeon 5520 24GB RAM 4x300GB SAS 15K RPM Raid-10 So this is a significant jump in specifications on this node. We have switched to using Xeon 5520's which are much faster than a 5430 CPU. We are also doubling the amount of ram on the system so there is further caching is involved. We are also using the much faster and more reliable serial attached scsi drives over the SATA raptor drives we were using. The raptors are faster than most providers use for drives but we think at this point we should be using SAS drives for all our servers. If you have any questions or concerns about this migration do not hesitate to make a VPS ticket. Start Date: 11/02/2009 End Date: 11/05/2009 Estimated Down Time: less than 5 minutes Duration: 4 days
