  1. First Titan, then Venus was attacked - both within the same day. These attacks probably originate from the same malicious user. Were they attacking websites belonging to one of your customers or were the attacks aimed at servers belonging to Hawk Host? If the latter, I'm concerned the rest of your servers will be attacked subsequently.
  2. Titan and Venus were under DDoS attacks recently. I thought LiteSpeed can prevent DDoS attacks?
  3. Apparently this started in September 2009 but I just heard about it. If you should receive such an email, please ignore and delete it. The provided link in the email leads to an .EXE file that's probably malware according to http://www.snopes.com/fraud/phishing/unreported.asp
  4. My favorite crust is the garlic pizza crust. Each bite is so full of flavor. Of course, after several slices, one shouldn't talk too much.
  5. October is National Pizza Month. Ah...pizza, glorious pizza... Magical, wonderful, marvelous, scrumptious, heavenly, beautiful pizza. The food to live for!
  6. Here are some possible theories: 1) He has a few clones of himself, each running a different shift. 2) He discovered the secrets of time warp. 3) He created an android that works tirelessly 24x7x365.
  7. Hi blagoj, I had the same issue when I first started. What you can do is to trace the route to your IP address using: Start > Run > cmd > tracert 999.999.999.999 where 999.999.999.999 is your IP address (e.g. 208.43.36.67 is HH's IP address) You should see "washingtondc-datacenter" just before reaching your server. Hope this helps. It's funny how some of us end up "blaming" Hawk Host for not giving us what we wanted for our server location when it's really the ambiguous geo IP at fault.
  8. Having experienced GoDaddy's laborious ordering system, this was a refreshing change.
  9. I like the clean and smooth billing process. It has good minimalistic design. I thought the pdf invoice showing either UNPAID or PAID status was kinda cool. See below for a couple of suggestions for "Client Area -> My Invoices": 1) Since your customers are international, it would be more appropriate to show dates as DD-MMM-YYYY instead of MM/DD/YYYY. E.g. 04-Jul-2009 instead of 07/04/2009. It's clear, unambiguous, and not prone to misinterpretation. 2) Useful to have a "Date Paid" column after the "Status" column. To make space for additional column, the View Invoices column can be contracted by using a clickable invoice icon.
  10. My mistake for assuming virtual goods = downloadable products. They encompass more than that.
  11. How about showing proof of buyer's IP address. IP address should be the same for buyer when he orders and when he downloads. Wouldn't it?
  12. LOL...That's very judicious planning, as usual. Anyways… I like the fact that Hawk Host makes an effort to keep their software up-to-date which I find is quite rare in very large hosting companies as there are just too many servers. Obviously I'm concerned that the frequency of software updates would be affected if one day Hawk Host has too many servers for the team to handle. I haven't seen it happen yet but I do wonder. I was quite impressed when HH decided to upgrade their old servers to newer machines with better hardware specs in January this year. It showed that they care for their existing customers even as they continue to get new customers. The LiteSpeed upgrade without charging us extra was quite a bonus. We get the benefits of a faster system without additional costs. This is one example of them going above and beyond. I am continually amazed by each new server that appears. The hardware specs are just phenomenal and prices remain just as good and even better with their frequent discounts/coupons. As for support, it's usually fast and good. I've tried out the new support and they are professional and know their stuff. I would say Hawk Host provides top quality hosting in its combination of hardware, software, support, and management.
  13. Your boss simply types super fast...probably 300 wpm. At that rate, his keyboard is gonna burn out fast. I can still remember one critical support ticket I had that he answered in less than one minute! So, how many keyboards had he burn out so far?

You're right MusFeeme, the current site is really nice compared to the previous one which you haven't seen. When we refer to the new site, we actually mean the one that's current which was recently installed just a few months ago. So maybe it's not so new now. Yes, there are a lot of good things about this site but it can become even better. Like updating the favicon to be consistent with its present theme instead of still showing the previous favicon. Minor issue actually but who knows it could very well turn away some potential customers who feel confused by the apparent inconsistency. Maybe they think the quality of support could be like that too. Of course, we know that's not true but they don't.
  16. That's a frighteningly "good" story, Frank! Quite horrifying, I should say. Do you suppose GoDaddy would consider replacing their "highly skilled" technical staff with those intelligent flies of yours? It might be worth a try.

mrr created a nice favicon for hawkhost's new site. See http://www.hawkhost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=369 . If that's not what you want, you can always use a Free Online Favicon.ico Icon Generator at http://www.prodraw.net/favicon/generator.php . It takes an image (JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP and TIFF) and creates an icon from it. Various output sizes are supported such as 16x16 pixels (favicon.ico icon size), 32x32 (desktop icon), 48x48 (large XP icon), etc. It generates icons with different sharpen levels for you to compare and download.

Hmmm, my previous post seemed a bit confusing. I must've eaten too many liqueur-filled chocolate Easter eggs. Please disregard "all other page numbers are underlined" as this is quite subjective. My point is simply this: Current page number should not be clickable and should not be underlined, even if mouseover. Yes, I think it's necessary to let a visitor know which page they're on, preferably by some form of color highlight instead of the underline. See example for an idea of how the page numbers on the headers are implemented. It's very clear to a visitor which page he is on. As for tabs & buttons, it's not necessary to underline its words whether active, inactive, or mouseover as the button/tab itself conveys the idea of it being clickable. See Compare buttons and the top navigation tabs (Home, Web Hosting, Reseller Hosting, VPS, Network, Support, About, Specials). Color change is good enough when mouseover. Clicking on one of the top navigation tabs will display the appropriate page but the tab is not highlighted to show which page the visitor is on.

    1) How about "Full Apache Compatibility" instead of "Apache Replacement" in the LiteSpeed header? A visitor might have more confidence in "full compatibility" instead of "replacement". The words have different connotations. 2) If I'm on page 1 "World Class Hosting", the page number 1 is underlined and clickable and page number 2 is not underlined unless mouseover. Vice versa if I'm on page 2 about LiteSpeed. I find this rather confusing as it goes against the standard convention: current page number should not be underlined nor clickable, all other page numbers are underlined and clickable. 3) http://www.hawkhost.com/Hosting/uptime/ a) Big glaring green typo "Availibility" -> "Availability" "which is backed by us service level agreement" (us -> our)

I don't think any of the current LiteSpeed graphics would do justice to your website. They need to get in touch with your designer to improve their logo and other graphics. Maybe you can drop them a gentle hint

That's a very nice looking globe in the World Class Hosting header. The right graphic sure made a world of difference. So, what are you going to do about the huge gaping void on the LiteSpeed Powered header?

    2.5 years!

I believe Ian has committed to staying on with Hawk Host for the rest of his life, which hopefully is much more than 2.5 years.

Floating navigation/menu tabs not happening anymore. Likely related to earlier issues which have now been fixed. How about using a wrapper in the content area, similar to what you have done for the Client Area menu option? Don't know if it'll look good but you can try it out and get some feedback from your customers.

http://www.hawkhost.com/Shared/compare http://www.hawkhost.com/Reseller/compare http://www.hawkhost.com/VPS/compare 1) I like the tooltip display. Was wondering if the background for the description displayed would look better in a slightly darker shade than "#f9f9f9" but lighter than "#dadada" to provide some kind of demarcation. 2) The tooltip descriptions for 6-month prepayment and 3-month prepayment are all showing 1-year prepayment. Minor issue, though. 3) In IE, feature headings are not centralized as in Firefox/Opera/Chrome so it looked kinda odd when it displays in 2 lines with the top slightly beheaded. I would've thot any IDE would take different browsers into consideration and have inbuilt code to handle any exceptions. (Also in IE only, navigation tabs don't sit nicely – they sorta float.) 4) Odd looking characters >> "»" preceding some headings. I thot it meant more info so I clicked on it. Are they supposed to mean something or just merely decorative? a) >>Order, Sign Up>> in http://www.hawkhost.com/Reseller/compare >>Addons in http://www.hawkhost.com/VPS/compare 5) A rather unusual feature is "None – FREE!" under Control Panels for VPS. How about changing None to Everything ("Everything – FREE!") and I'm very certain you'll get extremely high conversions .
