  1. Closer thread it has run it's course.
  2. It would just be a matter of making a ticket requesting an upgrade. We can do upgrades on the fly for you without any server moving of any kind. At least at this point anyways, but in the future if we have to do any migrations we can do it without any down time and you'd still keep all your IP's. This would only happen if the VPS node you're on did not have the capacity to support your upgrade. Good to hear and I hope it continues to be that way!
  3. There is now a private 10G peer with Comcast in Dallas. This should improve speeds and latency for all Comcast users. This brings the total capacity in Dallas to 70Gs Dallas - 70Gs Verio - 20G (2x 10G) Level3 - 10G Savvis - 10G Global Crossing - 10G Internap - 10G Comcast - 10G private peering
  4. If you can generate a full backup at your current host then we can restore it for you. If you're having to make various backups of different potions then it's not something we can restore. It does sound odd that your current host does not support generation of full backups. This feature is enabled on the majority of hosts unless they specifically disable it. So are you positive there isn't a link on the backups page to generate full ones?
  5. 1) If you can provide us with the backup or we login to your old host and generate the backup then it's an easy process. You'd just need to make a ticket and tell us which you plan on doing. The cPanel backup restores all files, databases, emails ect. ect. It is designed restore everything 2) The cPanel backup would include the phpbb board 3) The shoutbox space is not the issue it is system resource. A site with just 100 visitors a day with a shoutbox could generate 10,000 pageviews in a single day compared to probably close to 1000 without the shoutbox. They create a lot of traffic and make small sites which we would not notice become a site that is on the top 5 percentile of system resources. 4) Unfortunately this not something we disclose or planning on doing. We're ever growing which means more staff coming on as well to keep up with the growth. Rest assured we have enough staff that we're able to cover support 24/7 and that's what matters. Having 100 people on staff and nothing to do makes no sense obviously. We also try to be as efficient as possible reducing the number of tickets made and as a result requiring less staff.
  6. A few issues with that The majority of resellers are not purchasing reseller accounts to sell web hosting. Believe it or not the majority use it for just their sites or customers who they do design or programming work for. There is no real best system and everyone has their own preferences as to what they believe is the best system. There information is out there for the user to pick the one that suites their business needs In the future it's going to conflict with the fact we do have plans on offering our own system at a price. The goal was to have it out before the end of the year but things came up and it's been delayed. It's a big reason we're not offering any on our reseller accounts as in the future the system we'd offer could be a competitor to our own. The system will not be branded under Hawk Host, however the corporate entity will own that business as well. So directly supporting a competitor would be frowned upon.
  7. On the about us portion there is already a company policies link which has all of them listed there. We could not fit a policies option on the current top bar as it's full so that's out the question. This sort of thing will most likely be improved when we have a new site up in 2009.
  8. Make sure the versions match between the backup and the installed phpbb. Also it could very well be causing a false positive in mod_security. So if you cannot figure it out then I'd make a ticket it may be looking like a SQL injection which would cause it to not work. Unlikely but I've seen scripts do strange things which look exactly like 99.9% of sql injections look like.
  9. If you have the subdomain ltc.mydomain.ca and you select it from the drop down then you should just specify forum in the install directory to have it in a sub folder of the subdomain. Is that not working?
  10. The big reason for this is subdomains are not case sensitive all browsers will lower case it all. So by default cPanel will then set it that way. As far as the document root it makes a suggested document root but that does not mean it has to be that. You can specify what you want it to be. I'm not sure if you did that or not when I tried it on a test account it allowed different case. I'd need to take a closer look at this to determine what is going on and that would require a ticket. For different folders all you need to do is switch the "Install in directory". By default it uses your public_html folder but you can specify any folder. For example if you wanted it to go into the directory forum then you'd put the install directory as forum.
  11. If it's the phpmyadmin portion then it be localhost for the server and the username and password used to connect to that specific database.
  12. If you are granting remote mysql it would be the persons IP. However this sounds more like you want them to have phpmyadmin but not cpanel. The only solution to that is to upload phpmyadmin to a folder and set it up to use the mysql database the developer should have access to.
  13. Yeah you need to set it up via the SVN and trac manager because it uses a modified subversion server. So I am not how exactly you could connect to it if you created it yourself via the command line. Especially when it hard codes where the repository directory should be based off of the domain you connected to.

  15. I think I choose some bad wording for the page. But what I am talking about is if you go to the rvskin page then the subversion and trac manager page. You'll see a link to and on that page to Subversion Management it'll have something like this on it: The repository location : svn://domain.com, port 3690 (default). So just the domain is required in order to login. There is no need to use paths the custom subversion server figures that all out based on the domain you specify.
  16. The way the SVN setup works is you actually just need your domain so http://yourdomain.com/ . You do not need the other paths added onto it. I believe it says this on the integration page about how to checkout a repository.
  17. The array has finished rebuilding.
  18. 60% rebuilt as of this moment.
  19. The bad drive has been replaced and now the raid array is rebuilding.
  20. Today the Adaptec raid card in Skyline alerted us to a possible problem with the third drive in the servers raid array. As a precautionary measure we are replacing this drive as we believe it to be related to us having to reboot the server today. This will be happening tonight between 5pm EST and 7PM EST. We expect no down time during the replacement as the server has hot swap bays. Once a new drive is added the raid array will be rebuilding the drive in order to have it have the correct data. We expect a little higher load but nothing to cause a degradation in services. We're very sorry about the short notice on this but it is necessary we swap this drive out as soon as possible. If you have any questions about this maintenance please contact us. Date: 11/25/2008 Start time (EST): 5:00pm End time (EST): 7:00pm Duration: 2 hours Estimated Down Time: None
  21. In our environment 777 will not work as we run suPHP and it restricts this. The reason being the php runs as the user so 777 which gives anyone write access is unnecessary and dangerous in our environment. 755 is enough for something to write to a folder. So basically in our environment upload everything and the permissions will already be correct.
  22. We usually have accounts up within an hour but it depends on the time of the order. If you order at 4am our time it's not business hours which means sales will be unavailable.
  23. GD is installed on all servers.

    New NS2 Server

I'd like to announce that we have migrated our NS2 machine into our Dallas Texas location. For shared hosting customers you're already now on our new NS2 system. The old name server machine for you is no longer serving any requests. For reseller customers if you're currently using private name servers you will be required to change your NS2 IP before January 1st 2009. An email has been sent to you with information about changing the IP of your NS2 name server. This is our final name server ip migration which as a result in the new year will make it possible for us to offer new services to our resellers related to dns handling. Expect information about the new features before the new year and it officially launching at the start of 2009.
