I'd like to announce that we have migrated our NS1 machine into our Washington DC location. For shared hosting customers you're already now on our new NS1 system. The old name server machine for you is no longer serving any requests. For reseller customers if you're currently using private name servers you will be required to change your NS1 IP before January 1st 2009. An email has been sent to you with information about changing the IP of your NS1 name server. The reason for this change is to enable us to offer DNS related services in 2009. We plan on migrating our NS2 to Dallas Texas by the end of 2008 in order to bring all our dns machines into the facilities that we currently have web hosting services in. These changes will also allow us in the future to offer our reseller customers the ability to purchase IP's on our dns cluster. This will allow you to have your own reverse dns records while still having the redundancy of our cluster. With the reverse dns option you'll have an even more anonymous reseller hosting experience. Prices of this new feature will be revealed in 2009. If you have any questions about this switch do not hesitate to contact us.

I don't really have any recommend ones as I created just create these things myself. That being said from my looking at them they're all pretty much the same. As for sendmail vs smtp Sendmail seems to be flagged as spam more often then smtp based mail. However if the mail is just going to you then there is nothing to worry about and sendmail is easier to setup. For SMTP you'll need to create a user for it to send from so that would mean making an email account and providing it's login details to the form mail script.

Use the current domain I use as the main account for my reseller on the VPS whilst keeping my reseller accounts online whilst I get used to it. Yep Also, can I create more than one account on VPS. Will I still have WHM or something to create accounts with. Yep you may with Lxadmin or you can even order cPanel as an addon.

This maintenance will not be service impacting in anyway as backup tunnels will be used to re-route traffic. This maintenance while posted is only going to affect our internal services which sends traffic across the private link. So this potentially will affect the performance of our backup systems and a portion of our DNS system although highly unlikely. So overall nothing to worry about just private network related maintenance.

We are currently experiencing hardware issues with our ns2 name server which as a result is currently down and not responding to dns requests. This should not impact service if you have correctly setup your name servers. The reason for this not being service impacting is any request sent to ns2 will fall back on ns1 if the request fails. The self signed certificate is what cPanel sets up on a machine. We're looking at switching all our machines to use our own certificates but it's still in the planning stages.

This issue has been resolved.

More information: Datacenter Engineers are seeing multiple BGP and OSPF resets on our core network causing network instability which might lead to packet loss. We are currently on a call with Cisco priority TAC trying to determine the cause of the issue and to find a resolution. We will continue to provide updates as soon ass we have them.

At this point in time everything is done except to reboot the machine in order to load the new kernel. Unfortunately right now our backup system is running it's weekly verification check of the mercury servers backups. This may take up to an hour to run. We'll reboot the machine as soon as we can and expect no more than 10 minutes of down time while the server reboots.

This has been completed. The server was down for about 8 minutes while it was rebooting.

Our tos and aup do not state adult content is not allowed. Only thing is I recommend you purchase a dedicated IP for your site if you're worried about being blacklisted because of other sites on the same IP as you.
