Starting on Friday April 6th we will be migrating the Avenger server to new higher end hardware as well as better system configuration. We feel this will benefit all users on the Avenger server. We estimate this will be completed no later than Sunday April 8th. We expect no more than 5 minutes of downtime per account as we will be moving accounts to the new server then re-routing the IP address to the new hardware. This means there will be no changes to DNS and as a result no dns propagation issues. In our experience our migration method means the large majority of users will not even realize that they've switched servers. If you do however run into any issues do not hesitant to contact us as our system administrators are prepared to resolve any issues experienced. The new Avenger server will be similar to that of our recent deployment of servers: Old Avenger: Dual Xeon E5620 24GB RAM 4x300GB Raid-10 New Avenger: Dual Xeon X5675 24GB RAM 4x600GB Raid-10 So this is a pretty big upgrade as it will have four additional CPU cores with 8 to the operating system counting hyper threading. It will also be using 600GB disks over 300GB disks of the old system. Once the migration starts as accounts transfer over they will go onto the newavenger hostname until the entire migration is complete when the new hardware will become avenger and the old server oldavenger. If you have any questions regarding the maintenance do not hesitate to contact us. Our system administration department is available to answer any questions regarding this. Start Date: 04/06/2012 End Date: 04/08/2012 Estimated Down Time: less than 5 minutes Duration: 3 days

The server is now back online with services currently starting up and the new drive is currently rebuilding.

We've received RAID alerts that one of the hard drives on the Neptune server has failed. On Friday March 23rd between 1:00am and 4:00am EDT we will be taking the server offline to update the raid card firmware along with the currently working drives then finally replace the failed drive. Due to the fact we will be upgrading firmware versions we estimate the server will be down for up to an hour while we do this. The firmware upgrades are necessary as the hard drives are currently out of date and the replacement drive will contain newer firmware. This poses much higher risks of data loss so we've elected to update all the firmware before replacing the failed drive. We're sorry about any inconvenience this may cause but it is necessary maintenance to continue to offer optimal performance and continued data integrity. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us via our support desk. Date: 03/23/2012 Start time (EDT): 1:00am End time (EDT): 4:00am Duration: 3 hours Estimated Down Time: 1 hour

My understanding was this was fixed quite a while ago. If you're still experiencing some sort of issue it's related specifically to your account and you will need to open a ticket which you have. If you could PM me the ticket number that would be great so I can investigate what is going on with your account.

cPanel 11.32 still has not reached stable builds yet. If one is daring they can try it on their builds that are not quite production ready. Even when it reaches cPanel stable builds we're still a ways away from offering it. The reason being all our PHP builds will not work meaning everything needs to be recompiled. That means testing that to make sure it all works. Then we need to worry about backwards compatibility with applications as not all may support 5.5. Then finally we're rolling out builds of MySQL already which allow us to track usage and also using this information limit accounts. This would need to be available to do in MySQL 5.5 before we could use it as we would not want to lose such a valuable resource in having optimal server performance.

I would advise making a MySQL user and attaching it to the database you wish to use rather than using the cPanel username. You can do this using the MySQL page in cPanel. The reason is if you ever change your cPanel password then you need to update your application configuration to reflect that change.

The drive has been replaced and is 25% done rebuilding already.

On Thursday March 15th we will be replacing a failed drive on the Yoda server between 1am and 4am EDT. We do not expect any downtime to swap out the failed drive as the system is hot swap capable. Once the drive is replaced disk I/O may be slightly slower than usual while the drive rebuilds. Date: 03/05/2012 Start time (EDT): 1:00am End time (EDT): 4:00am Estimated Down Time: 0 minutes

The attack has been fully filtered at this point in time and we expect no further issues.

The sjc003 server is currently being hti by a large distributed denial of service attack. The system is currently being protected by the Arbor TMS Mitigation device but has not fully mitigated the attacking traffic resulting in network degradation. We're working as fast as possible to restore optimal network services. Sorry about any inconvenience this may be causing.

Hello, Would you be able to PM me your ticket number? Technicians should not be making changes like that without permission first so I'd like to investigate this.

The machine is back online and services are back up.

We have decided to start this 10 minutes early and the server will be rebooting right now.

We will be performing an emergency kernel upgrade on the sng001 server due to a kernel bug causing load averages to be reported incorrectly. As a result of load averages being reported as 2085233585 or higher various cPanel functionality is currently not functioning. We have consulted CloudLinux regarding this and it is a known kernel bug and will be fixed by updating the kernel. We will be rebooting the server between 5:00am SGT and 5:30am SGT and we estimate the server will be down no more than 15 minutes. We are sorry about the lack of notice on this but unfortunately due to the nature of this issue it needs to be corrected as soon as possible. Date: 03/11/2012 Start time (SGT): 5:00am End time (SGT): 5:30am Duration: 30 minutes Estimated Down Time: 15 minutes

You can purchase a SSL certificate from us and host it elsewhere that is fine. As for the releasing authority that would be GlobalSign.
