I'd say you've spun your wheels and have made it no where, despite the play on words. If your goal is to fail, at least aspire to something, anything, in case you manage to succeed.

That's rather ambiguous.

It can mean:

a) succeeding in failing your work. (very easy to do)

or

B) succeeding in your work despite trying to fail. (very difficult to achieve unless luck's on your side)

I would say you have succeeded as if your aim was to fail and you succeed then now you would have failed which is your aim and therefore succeeded in your aim.... I think :o
