  1. The best part is the same avatar pictures over and over again.

    Maybe they're twins / triplets / quadruplets / quintuplets / sextuplets / septuplets / octuplets / nonuplets / ... / N-tuplets ?

  2. I like the current hawk host logo...it has wings.

The current mascot is a vast improvement than the mascot here.

1a & 1b - not too bad. Wonder how it'll look if replaced with current logo and mascot.

    3a & 3b - reminds me of bugs bunny.

4a & 4b - mascot looks stunted with an overly big head.

There you go, just contributed a couple of rude opinions since you asked for it.

  3. You should replace the current vBulletin forum header in the upper left corner with this. It fits into the forum's theme quite nicely.

Yeah, it does look really nice and colors match as well.

You've got a good eye, Limey!

  4. Unfortunately though the majority of them are bots :(

lemon168 seems to be the latest bot. How did these bots get past the recaptcha? I thought recaptcha is virtually impossible to crack.

  5. but my site still does not show as www.mydomain.com..

In order for your site to show as http://www.mydomain.com/, you need to create a .htaccess file in your domain root folder with the following contents:

    Options +FollowSymlinks

    RewriteEngine On

    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^mydomain.com$ [NC]

    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.mydomain.com/$1 [R=301,L]

Do this after you have fixed the WordPress settings.

Actually, it's a good idea to display www in front of the domain name (google & amazon do it) and you need to be consistent whenever you refer to your Urls. You can read more about "canonical issue" by googling it.

CNAME and 301 redirect do not do the same thing. CNAME and A records are part of the DNS system, while 301s are part of the HTTP protocol.

  6. when I try to go to my blog, www.mydomain.com/blog, it shows as http://mydomain.com/blog

I'm assuming you're using WordPress for your blog. In order to display as http://www.mydomain.com/blog, you need to:

    1) Log into http://mydomain.com/blog/wp-login.php and click on Settings

    2) Change the WordPress address (URL) and Blog address (URL) to include www i.e. http://www.mydomain.com/blog

    3) Click on Save Changes (you will get some warning messages here due to www inclusion but that's ok.) - your changes will be saved despite the warning messages.

    4) Clear your browser's cache.

When you enter http://mydomain.com/blog or http://www.mydomain.com/blog, it will now show as http://www.mydomain.com/blog

  7. How about a "Slogan for Hawk Host" contest? I'm sure you'll get a lot more ideas and it'll be fun for your forum members as well. The prize? Say, 1 year of free hosting on the shared basic plan or an equivalent rebate off current plan.

    Do I hear a Yes?

    I don't hear anything so I suppose that means a No. :(

Anyways, here's one for Hawk Host :

    "We're Simply Better at Hosting"

    or

    "We're Simply Better"

and one for Frog Host (just for fun):

    "Unlimited Beyond Imagination"

    :D

  9. If you try to fail and succeed...
    That's rather ambiguous.

    It can mean:

    a) succeeding in failing your work. (very easy to do)

    or

    B) succeeding in your work despite trying to fail. (very difficult to achieve unless luck's on your side)

    Good question, though.

  10. You didn't answer the questions so you didn't steal the privilege.

There's no right or wrong answers for questions like these. I just thought it would be interesting to first hear it from Tony since he's the one who started Hawk Host and see if what he believes coincide with the customers' perceptions. It's useful to have such evaluations every now and then to see if you have achieved your goals. How a company develops and grows has a lot to do with the person who first started it and his visions for the company. This in turn does affect the company's slogan.

This is why it's important that Tony starts the ball rolling.

  11. Brainstorming is a good way to get more creative juices flowing. It's interesting to see how one idea leads to another, and to another, and so on.

Soaring, flying are good seed words.

Trying to create more seed words, here are a couple of questions:

    1) What do you think sets Hawk Host apart from the rest of the hosting companies?

    2) What is the most important benefit a customer gets in hosting their sites with Hawk Host?

Tony, as the CEO of Hawk Host, has the privilege (or burden :P) of answering the questions first.

  12. I didn't get an answer in the other thread so I assume there's no slogan for Hawk Host nor Frog Host.

Having a slogan is a very important part of branding and should not be downplayed. It can be a very powerful tool if the slogan is catchy, memorable, and positive. It also serves to separate you from the competition, or even to rise above the competition. Never underestimate its power.

There are companies that help to create slogans for you - google for "slogan development". Some people simply have a gift of words and can create really memorable lines.

Get a Slogan looks promising except it does not have any slogans yet.

    Slogan Says seems very affordable.

You may have to go through some slogans before finding one that's really good.

  13. Sorry to hear about the problems you had but it wasn't fair of you to blame them on Hawk Host. Hawk Host announced the migration several days before it happened thus giving customers time to plan or respond. They even gave an estimate of the time it'll take to migrate each account. You knew you had "stuff" that update your website every 1-3 minutes. You seem to be doing a lot of things of which you have no understanding of. You simply cannot go around blaming others for your ignorance.

If you're not happy with Hawk Host, you'll never be happy with any other hosts. You need to change your attitude, not your hosting. Sincerely, period.
