Tony Posted June 11, 2009 Report Posted June 11, 2009 Thursday June 12th between 9am and 12pm CDT we will be performing emergency maintenance on the Marlin server to correct a temperature problem. As it stands the raid cards battery is running extremely hot to a point where it is necessary to replace it. We were unable to schedule this maintenance any earlier and it's necessary so we had no choice but to do it during this time. We estimate it'll take between 15 and 20 minutes to replace the battery and double check the airflow of the machine. During this time the machine will be off line. Date: 06/12/2009 Start time (CDT): 9:00am End time (CDT): 12:00pm Duration: 3 hours Estimated Down Time: 20 minutes
Tony Posted June 12, 2009 Author Report Posted June 12, 2009 Backup battery on the raid card was replaced and an additional fan was added to the server in case it was an air flow issue.
Tony Posted June 12, 2009 Author Report Posted June 12, 2009 Scratch that the battery is not charging. We're going to need to take it off line again to most likely replace the battery or just the entire raid card.
Tony Posted June 12, 2009 Author Report Posted June 12, 2009 The machine is going off line again to investigate why the battery is not functioning. It is required for data integrity purposes if there is ever a power failure.
