Louis
I was just wondering, Is shared hosting enough to hold 5,000 visitors a day? Or would that much traffic need a VPS?
Solid
I guess it depends more on the script you are using and what kind of resources does it require. If just html files, then I am sure shared hosting would be no problem. However, for database intensive scripts, you will probably need to go for something more powerful. TheJoker
Even with a database-driven site, it will depend. 5K visitors a day equates to 3.5 visitors each minute if spaced evenly throughout the day, which any shared hosting should be able to handle. That's another story if they all are online at the same time. Caching and optimizing will help a lot.
Solid
It is difficult to control when your visitors visit your site. If it is not resource intensive, even 100 requests per minute should not be a problem for shared hosting.
