  1. Thanks for the reply, Tony. I think the performance and availability of Skyline has been phenomenal so it is okay with me if you leave sleeping dogs lie.
  2. The Skyline server does not seem to be scheduled for a memory upgrade. Why not? Is there a web page that shows the configuration of each server?
  3. Thanks for the quick reply, Cody. Two thoughts about your response. 1. Why don't you have some U. S. based money handler? I assume that you have many customers in the U. S. Maybe even more than in Canada. 2. Your invoice/billing system should advise customers that your billing is in Canada and therefore there may be additional charges from your financial institution.
  4. I just renewed for another year. The invoice said the charge was $39.48. However besides the $39.48 there was an additional charge of $.32 against my card as a separate transaction. I see no disclosure about this additional charge. What is it? Why was it charged? Why was I not told that the actual charge was to be $39.80 not $39.48 as was stated on the invoice? The invoice # is 31006. I look forward to a positive answer because I have been very pleased with HawkHost for the past year and I will be most disappointed if I find out that you have sloppy billing practices.
  5. There is an old thread about a credit card processing problem that I had when I signed up. It turned out that my bank did not authorize the charge because it was an "international transaction" since HH is in Canada. When I contacted the bank they put a 24 hour override on my account which allowed the transaction to go thru. I anticipate a similar problem when it is time for my renewal.
  6. Is it possible to have an RSS feed from IPB? When HH was using VB it provided an RSS feed although it was slow and sometimes missed posts. I see the RSS icon next to the View New Content button but it does not seem to do anything for setting up RSS. I also see the RSS icon in the URL bar (using FF 3.6.3) but it also doesn't seem to do anything.
  7. I have not had a reseller account with Hawkhost. Thus far the uptime I have experienced here at Hawkhost has been essentially 100%. In other words, the site monitor that I use to watch for downtime has never reported an interruption with a window interval of 15 minutes. It is possible that there has been a short interruption but I'm not aware if it has happened. I have had the occasional problem of not being able to access a site but the problems thus far have been network issues or problems with my DSL provider. At a previous hosting company there were interruptions and all of my sites went down at the same time. In addition, the provider had DNS service running on the same server and therefore DNS failures as well. It really is a no-no to have a single DNS server but many cPanel providers do just that. Here at Hawkhost that is not a problem because they run DNS services on separate systems which is a very nice feature that they don't brag about for some reason. I give Hawkhost extra atta-boys for their DNS setup.
  8. This has been one facet of reseller accounts that I think cPanel needs to improve. I used reseller accounts in the past as an easy way to manage multiple domains that are under my control but if I was actually selling accounts under a reseller plan I would be most unhappy when the server went down and suddenly I'm besieged by calls from angry clients. Better a few angry clients than most of them. Any idea if cPanel is contemplating an improvement to all accounts created under a reseller plan to be disbursed among multiple servers?
  9. Gee, Tony. Are you suggesting that there is a companion to Cpanel's Enkompass It doesn't matter to me how you spell it. I'm not interested. I have enough problems with Windows as is.
  10. I attempted to order 12 months of web hosting this morning. I was quite surprised that my credit card was declined. I immediately called my bank to inquire as to why and they told me that the transaction from Hawk Host was an "International" transaction and the bank automatically rejects those because of fraud problems. The bank enabled my account for a one-time transaction from hawk Host and I was able to complete the order. I think you should add a note somewhere in the order process to make sure that new and existing clients will not have a similar problem. I don't know how many banks operate as mine does but I would assume that with fraud being such a large problem there are many others. I personally don't consider Canada as "International" but I know nothing about credit card billing systems. I have heard that it gets really cold in Canada.
  11. Do you provide full cPanel functionality for shared hosting accounts? Specifically, do you disable the backup functions since you provide R1Soft backup? Having been burned before I now backup my sites every day by doing a cPanel full backup and then downloading it to my computer where I maintain a hierarchy of saves. I was with a host that provided R1Soft backup and when I needed it to restore a file it turned out that it wasn't working. They were very apologetic but that didn't get my file restored.
