Just sounds like buggy software to me and nothing you're doing wrong.

Took a little longer to run than we expected but it's now been completed.

On Friday April 8th between 1:30pm and 2:30pm EDT we will be upgrading the Thunderbolt server's PHP 5.2.x to the latest 5.2.x version. We do not expect any down time during the maintenance window. We will be upgrading the system PHP to the latest version first then the web servers so for a short time there may be different versions handling command line cron jobs. The reason for this is to get various fixes for LSAPI as well as PHP which we believe is causing random crashes from PHP in the last week. If you have any questions about this maintenance window do not hesitate to contact support. Date: 04/08/2011 Start time (EDT): 1:30pm End time (EDT): 2:30pm Estimated Down Time: None Duration: 1 hour

Starting on Monday April 11th we will be migrating Saturn shared hosting accounts over to a new shared hosting specific server Cobra with the hostname cobra.hawkhost.com. The reason for this is currently Saturn is one of our mixed servers which over the course of 2011 we hope to migrate all mixed servers to act as strictly one specific service rather than being for both shared and reseller. The one major advantage is once migrated over shared hosting users will have access to the shared hosting specific features that are currently not available on our mixed servers. It also means no longer will reseller users be able to affect services with their user accounts. In this case it will also be a hardware upgrade moving form a Dual Xeon 5430 to a Dual Xeon 5520. Since all our IP addresses are routed to our VLAN's rather than a specific server we can make this migration very seamless. We will migrate data then re-route the IP address over to the new server. This dramatically reduces the chances of data sync issues which are usually associated with server moves due to IP addresses changing. That is not to say it cannot happen but we are available to assist with any issues users may run into if for whatever reason their data does go out of sync. As for any downtime associated with the migration we estimate it'll be about 1 minute at most as we need to remove the IP from the old server and route it to the new one which can take us about a minute. How the migration will work is we will start migrating users on dedicated IP's first starting on Monday. After that is completed we will move onto users with shared IP addresses. We hope that this entire migration will only last two days we hope but we've created a window of three days. The only thing to keep in mind is once migrated it is not advised to be connecting to the saturn hostname if you currently are. While the data will stay there for now eventually all shared hosting user data will be removed from the Saturn server as it will be fully converted to a reseller hosting only server. So make sure to connect to the cobra.hawkhost.com server once the window has been completed. If you have any questions regarding the maintenance do not hesitate to contact us. Our system administration department is available to answer any questions regarding this. Start Date: 04/11/2011 End Date: 04/14/2011 Estimated Down Time: less than 5 minutes Duration: 3 days

On Thursday April 7th between 12:00pm and 1:00pm PDT we will be upgrading the Tornado server's PHP 5.2.x to the latest 5.2.x version. We do not expect any down time during the maintenance window. We believe we're close to having the machine repaired and functional again. We hope to have an update within the next few hours with regarding to it being online again.
-
The machine is back online. We will most likely need to schedule additional maintenance to swap the bad memory that caused the crash. A subsequent notice will be posted in a new thread.
-
The Lightning machine just crashed due to a kernel panic from looks to be bad memory. We will be rebooting them machine now to bring it back online then investigate further as to what we will need to do going forward.

We will be replacing the power supply on the Saturn server on April 7th between 1:00am and 3:00am CDT. This is necessary maintenance due to a sudden power loss the machine experienced almost a month ago and we believe it be best to replace the power supply as it's shown other signs that it may be failing. This requires that we take the machine offline and we estimate that'll take between 20 and 30 minutes to replace the power supply and have the machine back online. We will also upgrade the kernel during this time as well which would have meant 10 minutes of down time anyways to perform the reboot to boot back into the new kernel. Date: 04/07/2011 Start time (CDT): 1:00am End time (CDT): 3:00AM Duration: 1 hour Estimated Down Time: 30 minutes

Server is back online serving traffic. It now has updated firmware, bad drive replaced and latest kernel loaded.
-
The server just went off line it should be down for approximately 20 minutes.

On Monday March 28th between 9:00am PDT and 12:00pm PDT we're going to be taking the Tornado server down for require raid maintenance for approximately 20 minutes during the window. We've had several drive failures recently and noted a much older raid card firmware version than most of our other machines are running. We're going to be on the safe side and upgrade the firmware of the raid card as well as swapping the failing drive. This will require approximately 20 minutes of down time as the machine needs to be taken down in order to upgrade the raid card firmware. During this window we are also going to upgrade the server to the latest kernel making it unnecessary for it to have another maintenance window in the foreseeable future to upgrade it. The maintenance window chosen was based on usage trends of the server. During this time it is the least utilized due to the majority of the traffic to this server being overseas. We're sorry about any inconvenience this maintenance window may cause but this is necessary maintenance in order to guarantee long term stability of the server. If you have any questions about this maintenance window our system administration team are available to answer them via a support ticket. Date: 03/28/2011 Start time (PDT): 9:00am End time (PDT): 12:00pm Duration: 3 hours Estimated Down Time: 20 minutes

Starting on Monday March 28th we will be migrating Mercury server resellers to an upgraded mercury server. The reason for this is initially this server was deployed with mixed services in mind and has some configurations not desirable for reseller only servers. It also has various software packages difficult that are difficult to upgrade without causing interruptions of service. This migration will also give us an opportunity to do a slight upgrade of the hardware moving from a Dual 5520 to a newer Dual 5620 based server. Since all our IP addresses are routed to our VLAN's rather than a specific server we can make this migration very seamless. We will migrate all web sites on an IP address then re-route the IP address over to the new server. We will do the migration reseller by reseller to minimize affect for each reseller. We hope that this entire migration will only last two days we hope but we've created a window of three days. At the start of the migration the mercury hostname will start to point to the new hardware. The old machine will be switched to the name oldmercury so that connections are still possible when attempting to access cPanel. If you're using mercury to specifically connect to services you are advised to switch to connect to your domain or the IP address of your account until the maintenance window is over. If you have any questions regarding the maintenance do not hesitate to contact us. Our system administration department is available to answer any questions regarding this. Start Date: 03/28/2011 End Date: 03/31/2011 Estimated Down Time: less than 5 minutes Duration: 3 days

Stats processing actually happens only once a day. We're not going to be changing that as process stats is an intensive process. So it would lead to degradation of service if it was running around the clock on servers.
-
The private network maintenance has been completed so the backup systems are now back online.
-
There will be network maintenance later tonight in our Dallas location which will directly affect our backup server Bosco. Due to this backups will be unavailable as of 8pm CST and will not be available again until 9am CST. There is private network upgrading going on tonight in Dallas which if the backup system was available could lead to corruption of restores potentially backups as the network goes in and out during the network maintenance window. We're sorry about any inconvenience this may cause. Date: 03/05/2011 - 03/06/2011 Start time (CST): 8:00pm End time (CST): 9:00am

Which way of payment is better for YOU: credit card or Paypal?
Tony replied to gunwitch's topic in Sales Questions
It doesn't matter the fees are nearly identical. Whatever is easier for you to deal with. One thing to keep in mind some credit cards have started assessing fees from our charges if you're not based in our country (Canada). So you may want to keep that in mind if your card did that last time or possibly has changed it's policy.
