  1. First make sure your Packages folder (found in FTP) and its contents are chmodded to 777. If that doesn't work create the "temp" folder under "Packages" and chmod that to 777.
  2. IPB and you can even intergrate joomla if you wanted to, with it.
  3. Oh and spam prevention on this forum. There are about 7000 spam registrations and its quite annoying.
  4. How about overhauling the forums here? The header mis-matched colors have bugged me for the longest time and many other aspects of the theme. If possible it would be best to integrate the site with forums. In terms of hosting/networking, I would suggest little change here. The network currently is fast and pages load in a zip. With that said, hopefully these speeds will remain consistent in upcoming years with the servers not getting packed to full capacity with many customers. (BIG mistake by my previous host.) Oh..and something I suggested a while ago but I don't believe it was possible then, was integrating the helpdesk to your client area account. But I doubt that's still possible.
  5. http://avatarprime.net uses Cloudflare + Hawkhost Awesome speeds.
  6. Has anyone enabled Cloudflare on their hawkhost site yet? I decided to give it a go and actually found the load times to increase on my forum. I'm wondering if its because HawkHost might block something preventing the service to work correctly. From Cloudflare.com: Seems like an interesting concept though.
  7. Can't seem to get any response or ping from the server. o.0 Is it down?
  8. I spoke too soon.. Getting time outs this time. Now slow page loads. The connection has timed out The server at avatarprime.net is taking too long to respond. Site here is working fine.
  9. Everything appears like its back to normal now.
  10. Was just working fine until now heh. Pages are loading very slowly again. I guess ill file a support ticket. Edit - Now it's working fine again.. lol It's totally random these timeouts. grr.
  11. Within the past few hours there has been a major slowdown on my site. At times pages are taking 30 or more seconds to load and at other times the load is fine. Is this a known issue?
  12. I agree, it looks much better than the default cPanel design.
  13. (Originally posted on Web Hosting Talk.) So I have been using Hawk Host for nearly 6 months ago after finding them on Web Hosting Talk in March. I am nothing but pleased with their service and reliability to this date. But this shouldn't come as a surprise with all the other positive reviews posted about them. Here are a few of the pros & cons for Hawk Host: Pros - Blazing Fast Speed: All pages load in under 2 seconds for me - Amazing Support: Answers in less than 20 minutes usually! - Great Price, currently I'm paying $40 a year for 30gb bandwidth and 3 gigs disk space - Affiliate Program: Great program to earn some cash while getting customers for HH. - Small Company: While others may argue that big hosting companies are better, I personally like the fact that the community is small and staff interaction is more personal. Cons Alright, I have seriously spent the last 10 minutes trying to think up of a few cons for Hawk Host but can't. Conclusion THIS IS AN AMAZING HOST! I would recommend it to anyone. But with all good hosts always have that little fear in the back of your mind that the company could get bought out and go downhill -- I hope this never happens with Hawk Host. EVER! If the current Hawk Host management sticks around this host will continue to grow and grow with all happy customers including me. Site(s) Hosted By HawkHost: http://avatarprime.net
  14. Not sure if this has ever been suggested before or not. But a lot of forum softwares these days like SMF, IPB, and phpBB all support cache systems such as eAccelerator or xCache. Maybe a good idea to install it to shared servers.
  15. Lets see.. first website? I believed I used a remotely hosted phpBB forum heh.
  16. When I first purchased shared hosting I choose the default data center location, Dallas Texas without thinking. Now I came realize there is a data center closer to me and my members (Washington DC) that has a better ping and download/upload speeds for us on the East Coast and Europe. So my question is -- Is it possible to migrate to another data center if we would like? Is there a small fee involved?
  17. "Website of the Month" I like the idea. I agree, it will encourage others to get involved here as it will sever as a free advertisements towards their site. While it will also show the great hosting speeds and reliability of HawkHost.
  18. Turns out it was issues with my ISP. I could easily write a 5 page essay on how bad and unreliable my ISP is heh.
  19. Hey guys, When you go to submit a ticket from a client center it redirects you to https://support.hawkhost.com/index.php?_m=tickets&_a=submit . On this page it allows you to send a support ticket as guest. Therefore if you wanted to reply to the ticket, you can't unless you start up another ticket. In my opinion, the help desk software should be integrated and use the same login details as the client center. So you can reply to tickets directly on the page and easily followup on them without checking your email. My $0.02.
  20. So the ping and packetloss don't seem to be an issue. Or so I think. Usually around 49 - 55ms. Minimum: 48ms Max: 425ms Packetloss: Sent = 100 Received = 98 Loss = 2 (2%) Should I submit a ticket? The site is still traveling fairly slow for me. The forum here (forums.hawkhost.com) is loading fine for me. Loading under .9 seconds on the board index. As for my site -- over 4 seconds on average. Edit - I also ran a simple server status script and it's showing load averages around 7 seconds. Pretty high D:
  21. Hey Tony, How exactly can you a trace route with ping tests?
  22. Hello guys, When I first went with HawkHost I was truly amazed at how well the speed was. Now 2 months later, I have noticed the server speed has greatly increased. Pages are now taking 3, 4 seconds to connect where as before it was under a second. While doing a reverse IP check I was surprised to find over 1,000 sites are also hosted on the same server. Perhaps it's time for a server upgrade of some sorts to hold this many sites? This is not a scaling issue either as 2,000 posts for my forum on shared hosting should not be an issue. I even checked with the members, and they said they noticed a slowdown as well. So, don't get me wrong, the speeds aren't horribly slow, but it's definitely something myself and others have noticed.
