The selector is really, really good, except it's not quite working (for me). I changed my version of php to 5.3 so I could install 'tiny tiny rss' via softaculous. But the version shown in the left sidebar of cpanel still shows as 5.2.17 and when I try to install 'tiny tiny rss' it still complains that I am less than 5.3. Any ideas?

I've just upgraded my account to the super shared hosting plan and was wondering if there is an upgrade plan beyond that, or at least something that can be negotiated. Specifically bandwidth, which is 240GB on the super plan. I don't need lots of disk space or cpu, but have a few videos that are popular (nothing dodgy) and don't want to come close to the 240GB limit and find there is nowhere else to go. I'm really happy with hawkhost and don't want to move. It would be nice to know if there is an option to add bandwidth to the plan. Thanks

Magically it seems to be functioning again, although the graphs show a blank for the 18th Sept. If I click on the text report for the month each day is complete. To be honest I find the graphs and pie charts a bit... quirky. However, it's the numbers that are important. The 4 hour thing is good to know. I assumed it updated more frequently, but at least I know what to expect. So that's ok. One final observation, bandwidth warnings are sent out at 80% capacity (for some reason I always get 2), but nothing after that. Reminders at 90% or 95% would be useful. Do they occur? I've come close to 100% and did not receive one. Thanks.

Anybody having trouble with getting up to date information on their badwidth useage in cpanel? I am. Seems a bit unrelaible of late. Today's bandwith graph and the monthly graph have not been updated for a few days. The total usage has been updated at some point recently but I have no idea how accurate it is. I'm sailing close to the wind on bandwidth again and need something which is accurate and regularly updated. What happens if you exceed your bandwidth? Do all your sites get a "bandwith exceeded" message?

I thought I would add a bit to this as I have recently been hosting videos too. I find the download speeds excellent and I'm in Australia. My videos are mp4s and typically about 12mb in size and 3-4 mins in length. They download much quicker than they play, faster than youtube imo. I did have some stuttering a couple of days ago (which was unusual) but it seems fine again now. I do wonder if there is bandwidth cap that I should be aware of. If something went viral and 50 people stated downloading the video at the same time. Would it then start stuttering? I like being in control of my vids, but of course it does eat into your bandwidth. I'm going to have upgrade my plan shortly.

I know this is an old post, but I thought I would add a comment in the interest of anybody trawling through it in the future. Hawk host support is really 1st class. In fact response times are so fast it's downright spooky. These boards are pretty quiet, which can be taken as a good sign. Support BBS are typically full of people complaining.

Nobody likes outages but I think you guys managed it pretty well. Shit does indeed happen, and when you're only paying a few dollars a month for shared hosting you can't really expect levels of redundancy that covers every kind of eventuality. I think what annoys customers most of all during an outage is lack of information. Customers are a lot more tolerant if they know what's going on. So thanks Hawk for keeping us very up to date, it was much appreciated. The final reassurance was that Hawk actually had backups. It's incredible how many hosting companies, particularly the larger ones, do the occasional (if you're lucky) back-up but really make it the responsibility of the customer. Hopefully this will be our quota of hardware faults for a while and hopefully they don't come in 3s like funerals :eek:

Is there an RSS feed for announcements and service updates? I think the forum is great for discussing these sort of things, but getting them via a feed reader is much easier than checking the forums on a regular basis. Jelikin
