SugarCRM incoming Email Function

Softaculous install of sugarcrm does not leave the script with the right file permissions first of all. Does anyone know how to get incoming email functionality. Whenever I try to add an account the pop window appears. I fill out the information. Another shadowbox pop-up appears, but doesn't communicate with mail server or web server.

If you don't mind me asking which files are incorrect permissions?

Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the software so I can't help you in regards to the other issue.
