I'm just very nervous because I'm doing this for my wife and...well...you know Apart from that I'm having to deal with Ipower and that's never fun. I always seem to get a crappy connection via FTP and constantly have to baby-sit the whole process. Anyway, thanks again. I know I can always count on Hawk Host. Rich.

Hi, I'd like to move my wife's web site from Ipower to Hawk Host very soon and have a question or two. She currently runs 'gallery' and 'nucleus' on her web site. I have (I think) managed to back up her files and through Ipower's interface I think I have managed to back up her databases for gallery and nucleus. I know Hawk Host provide both 'gallery' and 'Nucleus' but I'm very nervous about how to move the databases for both of these. I have downloaded the backups for these databases and they end in a .dmp.gz extension. Is it possible to somehow use these backups when I move her web site and upload her files? Basically I want Hawk Host to host the exact same web site instead of Ipower..basically so visitors to her site have access to exactly the same stuff as they currently do. I've moved web sites before but haven't had to deal with the databases from Nucleus and Gallery before. I'd hate for my wife to lose data. Any advice would be very gratefully received. Thanks. Rich.

Thanks Cody. I received an email informing me that the domain transfer didn't work so I put in a ticket with you guys (support). I have also been losing email to my address at that domain, I'm not sure this is to do with the domain transfer (I put the details of that in the support ticket too). Rich.

Hi all, I just wanted to send a quick message of thanks to you guys. I signed up a couple of days ago after a terrible time with my previous host (Ipower). I got fed up of down time and the constant slow speed trying to do anything. I tried updating stuff like databases and joomla etc and would have to wait for at least 2 minutes for the page to refresh - only to be shown a blank page. Combined with their lack of support I felt it was the time to switch. I'm kicking myself for not finding you guys sooner. I was so pleased that the sign-up process went so smoothly and I was up and running in no time. I'm hugely impressed by the cpanel stuff too. Ipower use vdeck which isn't so great at all. I can't say enough good things about you guys, and coming from me that is quite amazing Another thing I like is the fact that you share information with us. I really like this forum and the blog. It gives a real family atmosphere which is so unusual with todays hosts. The only thing I'm left wondering is whether my domain name will transfer OK. I changed the nameservers etc so it's all working OK right now, just hoping the domain will transfer OK. Anyway, I felt I needed to thank you guys. It is so refreshing to find a host you don't want to kill. Rich.
