Domain redirect, how do I show different url?
DrWebber replied to DrWebber's topic in Shared Hosting
I am using a parked domain to point to the subfolder of my primary domain.. but when you ar actually at the site, it displays the primary domian/subfolder address, and not the parked domain address... I want visitors to see they are at the parked domain, and not the destination.. eg... The blog is hosted here: www.mymaindomain.com/blog1 I want visitors to use: www.blog1.com This does redirect them to: www.mymaindomain.com/blog1 But in the broweser address, they see www.mymaindomain.com/blog1 and not www.blog1.com Thanks -
Ive setup a domain redirect, but the address bar shows the destinaiton URL, not the source. This could be confusing to visitors, whoc would then see an entirely different address to the one they typed. Is it possible to modify the .htaccess file, or other, to show the address they typed, not the actual locaitons. Any help would be appreciated... Thanks

Apparantly this has been checked.. and is fine... but my site still does not show as www.mydomain.com.. I know its nothing major, Im just curious to know why this is, and how it can be resolved... when I try to go to my blog, www.mydomain.com/blog, it shows as http://mydomain.com/blog Thanks -

noob... installing Wordpress via fantastico, no ssl?
DrWebber replied to DrWebber's topic in Shared Hosting
There are several ways to achieve a secure WP, the one I found, which works best for me was ForceSSL. http://blog.taragana.com/index.php/archive/20-wordpress-security-plug-ins-and-tips-to-keep-hackers-away/ Admin SSL (didnt seem to work with WP 2.9.2) http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/admin-ssl-secure-admin/ Force SSL http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/force-ssl/ Whilst I understand that as a non ecommerce site, its not essential to use SSL, for the sake of a few quid, why not... In situations that requre some form of authentication, I would rather it not be handled in clear text... regardless of its importance. -

Thanks.. Ive requested this to be added to my account via the Support system... Im in process of getting my ssl cert, and have been asked for server type.. would it be apache+openssl, or something else? If just seen cPanel as an option, I would assume this would be the one? Thanks -

Thanks Tony, I cant find costs of moving to dedicated IP? I purchased my account yesterday... Can I purchase SSL from you guys for the domain I registered through you, or do I need to source elsewhere? I believe it is possible from what I have been reading, by editing the config file and forcing ssl.. Cheers... -
Im a bit of noob, first hosting account, like jumping in at the deepend.. Ive installed WP via fantastico, nice and simple.. but noticed there were no options during installing to make it secure... Admin access, and logins are all via http... Im assuming that shared hosting packages come with shared ssl, how can I install WP to make it more secure...??? Thanks for any help...
