Hello,
I run Apache HTTP Server with PHP 5.2.13 or something like that on my home computer for performing HTML and script tests and whatever other experiments I can think of.
I tried to install and configure MySQL following these instructions, but MySQL still won't work with my web server.
Any advice?

You may want to consider installing a MOD to hide the search engine bots from the active users list.

@Limey as long as it doesn't take too much resources like user wise, you should be golden. You could probably max out a total of 200-300 people maybe even more on a VPS.
Cool, thanks for the advice.
If I did decide to do that, it would probably build up slowly over time. Once I started to get up to 200 or so connections at any given time I would either get another VPS as a second game world or move on to a dedicated server.

I was really planning to write an original MMO in the future and possibly host it here.

Does this mean that all posts, user accounts, etc. will be destroyed in the process? Or will you use a conversion method to retain everything?

Ok, so, just in a little more detail, what isn't allowed? I know nothing that would annoy people, break laws, or in any way be considered "mean" or "annoying", but is there anythig besides that that would restrict one's use of a VPS?

One other suggestion I have is to make forum.hawkhost.com redirect to forums.hawkhost.com. That would save me a 404 error every time I absent-mindedly forgot the s.

Just a minor suggestion to make the forum look a bit more customized, I usggest replacing the current vBulletin "V" favicon with the Hawk Host favicon.

If you would like a more accurate ping without triggering firewall action, you can ping from your computer. If you run Windows go into run, then type in cmd, then on the command line enter "ping hawkhost.com" (without quotation marks). On Mac, go into console (should be in the Utilities folder, which is inside the applications folder) and enter "ping hawkhost.com" (again, without quotation marks). I am unsure what to do if you run Linux, but it would probably be the same or a similar process on the appropriate command line.

I have experience with WordPress. I do not believe there is a secure option to log in. If you would like that option in a future WordPress version you should suggest it to the developers.

On my PC I play Age of Empires 2: Gold and 3: The Complete Collection. I also play a few online games (such as RuneScape) on my PC. On my Nintendo DSi I play Super Mario Bros. and Age of Empires: Age of Kings. And on my very, very, very, very, very old and outdated PlayStation 1 (I know, lame) I play Nascar 2001 and NHL 2001.
