1. This is something either our sales or billing department can take care of for you. Please submit a ticket through https://support.hawkhost.com and provide us with the domain(s) you're looking to have this disabled on. If you're moving the domains to a new registrar you'll also want to make sure the registrar lock is disabled (can be done through the client area) and that your administrative contact email address is one you currently have access to.

Did all the above, but if this makes it go quicker

Domain name:  sociallyuncensored.net

Ticket: RNM-626-76108

2. Load average is measure of processes in queue it does directly correlated to the available CPU on a system.  For example I'm logged into the system you're on it reports a load average is reporting as 10 with 50% of the CPU idle.  If it was a direct correlation then this system would supposedly have 20 CPU's not the 16 it actually has.  This used to be a pretty good indicator because there was very few reasons processes would be waiting in queue.  This is no longer the case with using CloudLinux for example if a user is being CPU limited on old kernels if 5 processes of a single user were limited it would +5 the load average.  Newer kernels of CloudLinux it instead will only +1 meaning if we had 20 users being CPU limited it would have a load average of 20 even if there was a lot of available CPU.  The system you're on is running an older kernel with KSplice updates it may still have the older load average calculations as well.

Basically load average while can be an indicator it should not be the final word.  If your sites are fast no matter the load average there is nothing to worry about.

Both my site and cPanel would not load when the CPU reading was high.  This repeatedly kept happening.

Deleted my site and thus was using ZERO resources and cPanel was still not loading smoothly.

You have or had a system issue and your customer service basically said I was imagining it (just about called me crazy in the ticket).

My review (and the review of many others) of your service will not be an imagination.

3. As Tony mentioned we run Litespeed. mod_spdy is an Apache-only module (all mod_* are). Even if we did run Apache we'd probably not run mod_spdy as it's going to add some strange complexity in a shared environment. Without testing it the behaviour can be wild.

Generally things like mod_spdy would be ran in a custom environment (IE: VPS, server for serving a few specific sites, not thousands).

Accourding to Liespeed, SPDY is a possibility (I contacted them before talking to you).

Thank you, you've answered all my questions.

4. We run Litespeed which runs something similar to php-fpm when serving PHP.

Good B)

We're thinking of moving the site to HTTPS / SSL

Which would require us to purchase another IP address (If I am not mistaken).

But in our line of thinking php-fpm / mod_fcgid would be required for proper load balancing of our php (which you seem to have covered). :D

I'm just wonder now if you guys are smart enough to also have SPDY?  It's what Facebook, Twitter, Wikipedia, and even Google uses for fast loading SSL.  I would imagine you guys have it already.

6. cPanel 11.34 just reached CURRENT which is comparable to a release candidate. Right now there is no estimate for it to be considered stable so we don't have an estimate at this moment of when our servers will be using it. Typically though what happens is cPanel releases it to their RELEASE branch we then wait several weeks to make sure it's stable and test it ourselves then we update all servers.

Effective Monday, October 29, 2012, cPanel & WHM 11.34 is available at the RELEASE tier.

This release includes 200 features and updates, including:

• A brand new User Interface for WHM, which brings a slick new look and easier functionality, as demonstrated at the recent cPanel Conference.
• Web Disk support has been updated for Windows Vista, 7 & 8, and Mountain Lion. In addition to the Web Disk support update, we will soon be releasing Android and iOS clients.
• Email client auto configuration utilities have been updated to support the latest mail clients, as well as added support for Mountain Lion.
• Email Archiving makes its appearance in 11.34, so email users now have the option to more efficiently track, store, and access email. The Mail Delivery Reports functionality vastly improves email tracking and message retrieval.
• In addition, we overhauled the service monitoring system to provide better notifications, and improved the robustness of the automatic repair feature.
• New Hooks Management interface built into WHM.
• Feature Showcase page of WHM will alert you at login to any recent changes made by upgrading cPanel & WHM.

7. We have the capability to run multiple versions of PHP and our updating system makes it easy for us to patch all our systems at once. As far as running PHP 5.4 just not possible we've had customers want the latest and greatest many times in tickets and thus want to run PHP 5.4. Then they realize the software they run is not compatible with PHP 5.4. Also last time I checked zend guard does not support PHP 5.4 meaning users with software using that encoder would not work.

I'm happy with 5.4 .... Although I do wish you would update your version of it.

8. 5.2 has a few known security bugs which are un-patchable .... Whatever patch you think you have in place... You don't. (lets not argue that, you just don't, it's not possible. period.)

I'd be very happy if you removed it completely.

I'd like to push the idea as suggested by Unknown Bliss and have only 5.4.x Which you do have as a 2nd .... But I'm sure you'd argue how some people still have older php programs which depend on 5.3.x (even though 5.5 is in development).

9. It is common practice for company to attract customers with discounts for a set period and then after that period require users to pay full price. You can't really expect HH to be any different in that respect. A way around it is to use a reoccurring discount coupon when signing up and while you may get a smaller discount, you will get it for multiple years which is always nice when it comes to renewal time. Of course for you to really get the benefits over one time coupons, you do need to stay with the company for a longer period of time which is not always possible. It is a risk you have to decide if you want to take though unless you just swap hosts every year but even that has it's own issues.

I always sign up using those reoccurring discount coupons. There is a better long term savings in it. And since I always pay yearly, it is the year total I factor in when ordering. ;)

10. At the moment (or in the near future),

Do you have any coupons for existing customers about to renew their hosting plan? :) :)

This would be a good idea. One of the many reasons we switch 1x each year is because someone is offering the same thing, but at a better priced offer and yet, many times my current web host could technically match the exact same offer, but only do so to new customers.

I switch ISP's, phones, and tv providers for the same reason.

11. Well.... Still not working..... Given up on using more than 1 photo and so I tried this...

# hotlink protection allowing for multiple domains
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} .
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://([^.]+\.)?sociallyuncensored\. [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !search\?q=cache [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !google\. [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !bing\. [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !yahoo\. [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/hotlink\.jpg$ [NC]
RewriteRule \.(gif|jpg|png)$ http://www.sociallyuncensored.eu/hotlink.jpg [R,NC,L]
No luck. :(

12. Well it's official. I don't know how to do a rich text code in ipb. so basic code will have to do

# NO HOTLINK FOR SITE X

RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} ^http://(www\.)?sitex\.com [NC]

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !nohotlinkingx\.jpg$ [NC]

13. I've hit a wall....

The Goal

Block site X and show them image X

Blocked site Y and show them image Y

Block everyone else and show them image Z

Have a safe list / white list, so that I can still hot link here on XenForo and a few other select sites.

What Jake came up with (but doesn't seem to work)

# NO HOTLINK FOR SITE X
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} ^http://(www\.)?sitex\.com [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !nohotlinkingx\.jpg$ [NC]
RewriteRule \.(jpg|gif|jpeg|png|bmp|pdf|zip|txt|svg)$ http://www.yoursite.com/nohotlinkingx.jpg? [NC,L]

RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} ^http://(www\.)?sitex\.com [NC]
RewriteRule ^attachments/.+$ http://www.yoursite.com/nohotlinkingx.jpg? [NC,L]

# NO HOTLINK FOR SITE Y
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} ^http://(www\.)?sitey\.com [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !nohotlinkingy\.jpg$ [NC]
RewriteRule \.(jpg|gif|jpeg|png|bmp|pdf|zip|txt|svg)$ http://www.yoursite.com/nohotlinkingy.jpg? [NC,L]

RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} ^http://(www\.)?sitey\.com [NC]
RewriteRule ^attachments/.+$ http://www.yoursite.com/nohotlinkingy.jpg? [NC,L]

# NO HOTLINK FOR ALL SITES
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^$
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://(www\.)?yoursite\.com [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://(www\.)?allowedsite\.com [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !nohotlinking\.jpg$ [NC]
I know someone here must have done this before.

Can anyone here tell me what is wrong with this code?

(If you don't have the answer... Please like this post knowing that I wasn't someone who opened up a wasteful support ticket. I imagine that happens a lot.)

14. I'm not sure what you're talking about here. Could you elaborate as you're not making sense.

Which part do you not understand?

Shared > Reseller > VPS > Semi-Dedicated > Dedicated

This is typically the hosting industry standard. Semi-Dedicated is 1 step above VPS (or it should be) and 1 below dedicated.

You have it rather like a "shared plus account", which doesn't really make much sense.

YES, there are other host which offer all the above. Budget does not mean cheap and unreliable

15. These are not reseller accounts and we're not really promoting them as such either. You're limited to one cPanel account, there is no WHM access, no IP assigned solely to your sites (unless you have a dedicated IP), etc. Essentially it doesn't include anything that a typical reseller comes with. The semi-dedicated plans are meant as an in-between from shared accounts to a VPS, or for someone who wants more resources for their site. The full advantages are broken down at http://www.hawkhost....ting/advantages

OK, so even less than industry standards... Shared Hosting Plus.

We don't want to compete in the budget VPS market so you're right, there are a large number of companies out there that provide cheaper VPS solutions. Our VPS offerings are for existing customers who are looking to customize their environment or gain more resources and have found themselves extremely happy with the services we provide, or for people who need a reliable solution that they know will be online. Knock on wood but I can't recall the last time we had an issue with our VPS nodes so they're certainly reliable.

There are other host which offer all the above. Budget does not mean cheap and unreliable

16. edit - It appears the server you're on is running 11.32.3 build 19

YES, I told you that..... See 1st post...

That being said I'm not sure why this server wasn't fully updated - we're more concerned with large bug fixes and security updates than trivial ones (IE: UI tweaks, JavaScript updates, yada yada).

Good question.... Please resolve it as soon as possible. Thanks in advance.
