I'm a little perplexed. When I think of "free SSL certificates vs. purchased SSL certificates," I find myself scratching my head. And I'm sure I've got a lot of questions on my mind right now. Indeed, why should I pay for an SSL certificate when I can receive one for free (courtesy of Cloudflare's free SSL)?

Oh! I'm a newbie on this forum . I appreciate any help you can provide.
I recently added Cloudflare and changed the Nameservers as instructed by Cloudflare. But my email stopped coming to my home computer. I was told to add a MX record so that the emails will be pointed to Hawkhost. But I can't find where I'm supposed to do this! (I don't work on the backend of my sites-so I don't understand much of this).
If someone can just give me the place to find where I add this information I will be forever thankful to you! (breadcrumbs might be helpful).

This is only marginally about Hawkhost, but sometimes you just have to rant SOMEwhere!

	Good news:
A recent change to cPanel has made it so Roundcube now shows the number of unread mails in the window title,
like this "(1) RoundCube Webmail :: INBOX". That means it also shows up in the tab on the WIndows taskbar. YAY!

	Bad news:
I just moved onto Windows 10 and they have "improved" the taskbar so that all Windows running the
same program (such as Firefox) are merged into one taskbar tab, neutralizing the above good news!
BOO!

Hi I have decided to sign up to the Hawk Host standard package but have a question. Do they have software in the package which will allow me to upload video files to stream them on my website? Also typically how long will it take to upload the file onto my site?

I won't be streaming alot of videos. Just one per week for a few days, then I will transfer them to a different place.

First post here. Been with HawkHost since Nov of last year, so fairly new, but I know of them, and heard many great things about them over on WHT. Hi all!

Just a bit of a maintenance. question for you all - I download a backup a few times a month, I put calendar reminders to remind me to do it. If I've made a significant change to my website, and I am a happy with it, I'll usually go right ahead and backup right there and then.

I finally found my way to the hawk host forums, hehe. This is my first post so a bit about myself, I have been a Hawk Host Customer with a small project blog since earlier this year. Now, I have been thinking of getting G Suit, so I can have a more professional looking email address as name @ companyurl for my clients who email me. Currently its just a gmail account, and since I like using gmail so much I thought about just buying a google suit package for a year, you know 30GB storage space and the whole deal for like 5 bucks a month if I paid for a year. Which works okay.

Now Iw as wondering what the whole Hawk Host Email setup was like? Does it have its own mail box or it it like some mail forwarding where its sent to my gmail etc, but what happens when I reply to a mail, is it going to appear like it came from a personal gmail account or the setup professional looking one. then I can just buy some space for my existing gmail account and contunue using that, but rather not if its going to be a bit too messy.

Just gauging my options and what you guys all thought, if anyone has experience using both or g suit and if hawk was partnered with gsuit for any specials etc.

Thanks for you time & happy holidays

In mid-December, the US Federal Communications Commission will hold a critical vote about
the rules for Net Neutrality - about whether ISPs (like Comcast, AT&T, and the like)
will be able to divide the internet into "fast" and "slow" lanes, or even censor sites
they don't like altogether.

These companies are madly trying to acquire content of their own (Comcast owns NBC,
AT&T is trying to merge with Time Warner to get hold of all its cable channels).
Think they don't want to favor their OWN content over everyone else's? ... Think again.

This is big threat to the type of small, independent sites hosted by Hawkhost,
such as blogs and small businesses. That in turn threatens the business
of Hawkhost and other hosts of small sites, business at its core.
If small sites are relegated to the slow lane, or cut off entirely,
there won't be as much reason to have them in the first place.

While I'm still a relative newb to the Kernel, I was curious about what version I was running on my VPS, so a quick screen from my SSH:

[root@server ~]# uname -a
Linux server 2.6.32-042stab113.11 #1 SMP Fri Dec 18 17:32:04 MSK 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Looking that up I couldn't help but think "Wait a sec, Hawkhost is giving me 2.6 kernels out of the Linux stone age? No way..." but then I ran the Kernel version by Google and find out it's really Kernel 4.7. Ok fair enough, saves Hawkhost a ticket...

My question: Why don't the Kernel guys more accurately report? Anyone got the answer offhand?

Yup, just had this one happen. Wanted to clean up some old ownership information on a domain name I wanted to bring into Hawkhost (it had an older address, person not with our group, etc.), before transfer. What I didn't realize is that ICANN mandates a 60 day "Hold" against transfer on a domain once all that information is transferred. Ergo when I put the transfer order in, the current registrar (GoDaddy in this case) rejected the transfer.

Of course it isn't HawkHost's fault, probably not really GoDaddy's either, ICANN sets these rules. But alas my domain transfer in will have to wait for mid August. Annoying but what can you do?

Planning ahead for next time, you can change email addresses if you need a current email address for all the admin contact emails that will be heading in your direction, but that is all. So if you want to clean up registrant information and transfer a domain, it's likely cleaner to transfer the domain, changing only the email if needed, then change the rest of the registrant's information once the domain is in its new registrar..

	Live and learn.
