Start Time: 12:00 AM CDT

End Time: 08:00 AM CDT

Services affected: Global Backbone

Location: GLOBAL

Duration: 8 hours

==================================================

Network Engineers will be performing global maintenance on the SoftLayer Technologies backbone. During this change, Engineers will be implementing a number of policy changes. This work is required to support continued growth within the network and future global expansion. Due to the scope of this change, the work has been scheduled for the following day:

Tuesday September 6th 00:01 - 08:00 CDT

While Engineers expect no outage during this maintenance, customers may experience higher latency and/or packet loss while routes reconverge across the network. Customers with private network traffic between datacenters may also see latency and/or packet loss as routes are adjusted.

Network engineers are aware of an ongoing latency/loss issue with FCR01.DAL05, FCR02.DAL05, FCR01.SJC01, FCR01.HOU02. Initial investigation shows it be related to a large number of BGP updates causing 100% CPU. Engineers are working towards a resolution and should have more information as soon as possible.

We'll post more information as we receive it.

CONTINUATION - Scheduled Network Maintenance [04/25/2010] - GLOBAL PUBLIC

Date: Sunday, April 25th, 2010 (04/25/2010)

Start time: 12:00 AM CDT

End time: 7:00 AM CDT

Duration: 7 hours

Service Affected: Public Network

Reason: Network Migration

Location: All Datacenters

==================================================

As a continuation of the previous maintenance on April 24th, 2010 (04/24/2010), this new maintenance window will serve to migrate the public network between datacenters to the new MPLS enabled network. During this maintenance, traffic will be shifted to other providers while circuits terminating in Equinix or similar facilities are migrated to the new equipment.

POPS:

LAX - Los Angeles, CA

SJC - San Jose, CA

DEN - Denver, CO

CHI - Chicago, IL

ATL - Atlanta, GA

NYC - New York City, NY

MIA - Miami, FL

Datacenters:

DAL - Dallas, TX

SEA - Seattle, WA

WDC - Washington, DC

During this maintenance, customers can expect to see packetloss, routing reconvergence, and high latency as traffic is shifted to other providers. Datacenter will be migrating the following circuits during this maintenance.

DAL:

- Qwest

- Time Warner Cable

- Comcast

- Telefonica

- Google

- Equinix

- Public Peering to SEA/WDC

SEA:

- NTT America

- Level 3

- Global Crossing

- Time Warner Cable

- Comcast

- Seattle IX

- Google

- Public Peering to DAL/WDC

WDC:

- NTT America

- Level 3

- Global Crossing

- Qwest

- Time Warner Cable

- Comcast

- Equinix

- Public Peering to SEA/DAL

- Google

Again, during this maintenance, customers can expect to see packetloss, routing reconvergence, and high latency on the public network only. Datacenter Engineers will make every effort to mitigate the effects of this work during the timeframe listed above.

Scheduled Network Maintenance [04/24/2010] - Global

Date: Saturday, April 24th, 2010 (04/24/2010)

Start time: 12:00 AM CDT

End time: 7:00 AM CDT

Duration: 7 hours

Service Affected: Public Network, Private Network

Reason: Network Migration

Location: All Datacenters

==================================================

Datacenter Engineers will be conducting maintenance on the transport gear that provides connectivity between data centers and to peering exchanges. During this maintenance window, traffic will be gracefully shifted to other providers. Engineers will be bringing new backbone routing equipment online in the following locations:

POPS:

LAX - Los Angeles, CA

SJC - San Jose, CA

DEN - Denver, CO

CHI - Chicago, IL

ATL - Atlanta, GA

NYC - New York City, NY

MIA - Miami, FL

Datacenters:

DAL - Dallas, TX

SEA - Seattle, WA

WDC - Washington, DC

In conjunction with bringing this equipment online, Engineers will be turning up new circuits linking these locations together. Transit and peering circuits within each location will also be turned in another maintenance window. During this, customer traffic destined for data centers DAL01, SEA01, and WDC01 will be rerouted either over the public Internet or through other paths for private network connectivity. Datacenter Engineers expect minimal impact to customers as traffic will be shifted prior to the event but some routing anomalies are expected during this process as routes re-converge.

Once completed and circuits verified, service will return to normal.

Again, Datacenter Engineers expect minimal impact to customer services once traffic has been shifted during this maintenance window.

AboveNet Maintenance [11/01/2008-11/04/2008]

Start time (CST):

Services affected: Dallas/WDC back end 10G Link

Location: Dallas, TX & WDC

Duration: 8 hours each night over 3 nights

AboveNet will be conducting maintenance on the private 10G link between Dallas and WDC starting at the time listed above. This maintenance will not be service impacting in anyway as backup tunnels will be used to re-route traffic.

This maintenance while posted is only going to affect our internal services which sends traffic across the private link. So this potentially will affect the performance of our backup systems and a portion of our DNS system although highly unlikely.

So overall nothing to worry about just private network related maintenance.
