]]>6942Mon, 26 Mar 2018 05:58:31 +0000D00d, what time is it?https://forums.hawkhost.com/topic/6864-d00d-what-time-is-it/ So was trying to setup 2 factor authentication on my VPS, however wasn't having much luck.  On looking into it I noticed the time is off on my VPS, which is a big no-no of course in 2 factor authentication.  Or right now it's 2:39UTC on my VPS, but time.gov has me at 2:45UTC.  Pretty significant for 2 factor.  

I tried correcting this with NTPD but it wasn't working for some reason.  Tried opening firewall ports, no go.

Does VPS Time sync only with the host or can I independently configure time?  If you need to do it, could I ask you for a time check on dalvz109 please :-) either that or is it typically wise to setup WHM 2 factor authentication on a Virtual server to begin with?

Thoughts?  Is it really a best practice now?  Would HawkHost help at all (maybe open up HawkHost DNS servers and allow me to place a zone file on HawkHost's own DNS)?

Is there any noticing email after the vps activation? Because I read from the Knowledge Base, once the hosting account is activated, you'll get 'New Account Information'. If there should be an email, I definitely didn't get any.

What should I do next after I can login to my vps?

My domain name is registered with other webhost. How do I point my domain to my vps?

First of all I want to host a Game server on the VPS , so web caching protections like Cloudflare is not an option here. I already have a server with another provider but they seem to null-route IP in case of an attack. The type of attack I'm getting is TCP floods and they are targeting port 80. Attack size is ~100mbps. My firewall drops the attack(no outgoing only incoming traffic, So I assume it's dropped) but they still nullroute.

 

So my question is, what's your policy against DDoS attacks for VPS plans? Do you nullroute IP incase of an DDoS attack?

or Do you suspend the VPS? 

 

Also can you PM me a test IP to test ping/traceroute?

I would like to have the ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com nameservers, but I don't understand whether that's what I would be getting?
