CharlesM
I am curious about the Pluto server. In the following thread on the WebHostingTalk forums: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=919152 Tony said on 01-19-2010, 04:56 PM : Well all our servers are 8 core cpu systems now with 12gb of ram and 15K RPM sas drives. So we don't need as many servers as someone running 4 core systems with less ram and sata drives. Still we are going to have some new machines up in the near future to deal with the growing demand. In the HawkHost forums, Tony more recently said on 02-23-2010, 06:59 PM : Old Pluto: Dual Xeon 5430 12GB RAM 4x300GB SATA Raptor Drives 10K RPM Raid-10 If all servers were using 15KRPM sas drives back in January, then why was the Pluto server using 10K SATA drives in February? Or is Pluto a new server? Or, am I comprehending something incorrectly?
Tony
All the servers we've been deploying new users on have been using 15K RPM SAS drives. We had a few straggling machines that never received upgrades for various reasons (lack of use, feasibility etc)
