JonnyDee
Greetings! First post & first time user of HH && first time user cPanel I am still waiting on the DNS to completely propogate I am manually installing WP with intent of going to WPMS immediately I have done this multiple times on another hosting that uses a different panel #1. No offense to the auto-installers, but I have heard if I use them I may run into problems with WP upgrading Is this true or not? #2. I can not get the install to work/make database. Error: Error establishing a database connection This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can't contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host's database server is down. Database Name I have used both 'domain_name' &' name' User Name I have used both 'domain_user' & 'user' Password is correct (YES I am sure) Database Host localhost Table Prefix '1233Q23_' Any solutions available? JonnyDee
I decided to try the auto install, and it looks ok, but I am still waiting on the DNS One annoying thing: I want to transfer multiple domains from another hosting later, so I am confused about use of the folders My anticipation was to use a new db and new folder for each domain I transfer Softaculous install did install in the folder I specified, but now I am seeing Admin url .... www.mydomain.com/folder/wp-admin I am guessing that some .htaccess configuration is needed to see this as Admin url .... www.mydomain.com/wp-admin ?? OR did I install wrong .. or am all confused TYIA! Jonny
Brian
No offense to the auto-installers, but I have heard if I use them I may run into problems with WP upgrading We've never seen this to be the case, Softaculous handles upgrades properly and I can't recall a single complaint about their implementation of upgrading.I can not get the install to work/make database. Database name and database username are both setup through cPanel in the MySQL interface. Both the prefix and DB name/user can be setup through there for your installation.www.mydomain.com/folder/wp-admin If 'folder' is a domain name that is pointed to us, as in mydomain2.com, you should be able to go to http://mydomain2.com/wp-admin and access your admin interface without having to go to http://mydomain.com/mydomain2.com/wp-admin If this doesn't sort things out I'd suggest a support ticket, we can look at your account specific details/setups which will make it easier to figure out what is going on
