fenerli
What is a good, free FTP program? Filezilla www.filezilla-project.org There are other alternatives and options, including using a browser extension such as FireFTP, however Filezilla is my recommendation for its adequate feature set and ease of use / simplicity. And its open source! I also use FileZilla personally - it's a very well rounded FTP client that's cross-platform and offers a nice little feature set (sFTP being one of my favorites). KouseiKibou
Filezilla is THE FTP program on Windows. I used to be a fan of SmartFTP, until they cut off the free version. The only thing I can't stand about Filezilla is that the Linux version doesn't like my dark color schemes (making it white text on a white background). canadave
What is a good, free FTP program? I was going to chime in with "WS_FTP Lite", but then I realized that would date me back quite a ways Actually, truth be told, I still use WS_FTP Lite occasionally on the PC (XP) side of my Mac (I think the program is still available on the Internet in some dusty back room somewhere). It's rudimentary, designed for Windows 3.1, and yet it works just fine for most basic purposes. But...umm....sure, go with Filezilla Or just fire up a DOS box and put and get...... Player UNT
In my opinion: 1) FileZilla and If you want to pay try COREftp(reviews for them are also good)
charliepage
I used to be a big LeapFTP fan, but then I started to get crashes too often and I'm now a big FileZilla fan. Great FTP program.
LCCEnterprise
Personally I use and love FlashFXP. Can connect to two ftp sites/servers at once to make copying files from one site to another without the hassle of saving on desktop then logging in and uploading. This is, FlashFXP costs, but I have a paid version that I bought so. But, for free, Filezilla is the best.

That being said a lot of hosts / providers disable the option to allow this functionality - ultimately crippling the usefulness.

It's possible that you have too many incoming connections so the server temporarily blocked you - if you submit a ticket we'll take a peak for you. Alternatively if you idle for too long the server will disconnect you.
